🏊‍♀️❌ When your Iron-distance triathlon doesn't quite go to plan…

Our latest newsletter features Melissa’s story of Outlaw 140.6 — her “victory lap” and supposed “once-ever-never-again” event.

Then the swim was cancelled. 😳

What followed involved 3.8 miles of running, 112 miles of cycling, a marathon, one very angry headwind, a bike that nearly ended up in a hedge and a whole lot of stubbornness! 😂

It didn't go to plan, but it's a brilliant story of determination, friendship and the power of a supportive tri club. ❤️

140.6-ish. Once ever. Never again. Probably. 😂

🚨 NEW TEAM. BIG SHOES TO FILL. 🚨

The annual Rossendale Sprint Triathlon planning committee has officially held its first meeting… and the 2027 planning machine is now in motion! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

After last year’s event went and won British Triathlon’s National Small Event of the Year 🏆😱, this year’s brand-new team has the tiny task of following that up.

No pressure then. 😂

Behind every great triathlon is a group of volunteers, approximately 847 spreadsheets, an unhealthy amount of tea and cake, and someone inevitably saying:

“Have we thought about...?”

The ideas are flowing, the wheels are turning and the excitement is building…

Can the new team live up to the award-winning legacy? 👀

Lakeland 50 🏔️

Lucy took on the incredible Lakeland 50 — 50 miles through the Lake District with over 3,000m of climbing.

The race didn’t go to plan, with severe stomach cramps and bloating from just 5 miles in making eating, drinking and every climb a huge challenge. But Lucy refused to give up and dug deeper than ever to reach the finish line.

Sharing the journey with Dave Woods and Dan Stacey made the toughest moments easier, with friendship, encouragement and a lot of determination getting them through.

Despite the pain, the stunning Lakeland scenery and the incredible feeling of crossing that finish line made it an experience Lucy will never forget. ❤️

Would she do it again? Immediately afterwards: absolutely not! 😂
Now… she’s not ruling it out! 👀
