The lads had a field day today down at Redvales, following up a disappointing draw from last week with a dominating emphatic win this week! The first half had many Holcombe chances and the lads went 1-0 up early on, when a quick one-two between Harry and Sam in the box lead to Sam slotting the ball under the keeper’s right arm. This was quickly followed up with an excellent counter attack from Jack and Elliott, playing through Sam again, who doubled his tally after taking on a few defenders before slotting the ball into the keeper’s near post. 3-0 came quickly after from a Crompton mistake, which was punished with tidy finish from Elliott. Around the half hour mark saw Holcombe take a 4-0 lead, as another Elliott assist preceded a lobbed effort from Sam over the keeper to secure the hat-trick! The second half was less energetic as we tried to see out the win. A lovely goal from Harry carried on Holcombe’s fine goal scoring form, as he took the ball around keeper from a penetrating through ball from Joe. Unfortunately, the lads could not keep the clean sheet, but the game was finished off with 2 goals from Jack. A trademark cross that floated in and lovely near post strike, after being slotted through by Sam. That win sees Holcombe reach 2nd in the table and still unbeaten going into next week’s game against local rivals Irwell Town!
