On Thursday we said goodbye to Tony, a much loved and devoted husband to Janet and a respected Corporal for the Royal engineers. 

Throughout their life together Tony and Janet were inseparable. They shared many wonderful adventures travelling to various parts of the world.

Tony was also well known in many parts of the world for his exceptional craftsmanship, particularly his miniature dolls’ house furniture. The precision, intricate detail and skill shown in his woodwork were phenomenal. His work was a true reflection of his patience, dedication and remarkable talent.

Tony even wrote about his work which was featured in a German magazine. He was highly respected within the miniature furniture community and his creations were certainly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Tony leaves behind a wonderful legacy through the beautiful work he created, as well as the many memories shared with those who knew and loved him.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Dave.

Dave was a devoted husband and a much loved dad and grandad. His whole world revolved around his family, so it was no surprise that the crematorium was filled with so many people who had come to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes.

One thing that really stayed with me from Dave’s eulogy was just what an old romantic he was.
Before proposing to his soulmate Christine, Dave’s mum gave him some words of advice:
“If you propose while standing on a bridge, your future troubles will flow away just like water.”
And that’s exactly what he did.
Dave and Christine had their very own special bridge where he proposed…. place that became part of their story and a beautiful symbol of the love they shared. 🌈 💙

Yesterday we said goodbye to a truly lovely gentleman.

I had the privilege of meeting two veterans who came out to honour Tony and celebrate his life. It was a beautiful and deeply moving tribute.

Today we said goodbye to Jack.

Jack was brought up alongside his beloved big sister and though he had no children of his own, he later became a much loved uncle and godfather to his niece and nephew.

There wasn’t a spare seat available at the service today with so many friends coming to pay their respects - a true honour to the genuine man Jack was.

Jack had a great love for the scouts and could often be found fell walking, rock climbing, or flying overhead with his good friend as they flew over the Lake District….. He would even fly off to France for a cup of coffee or a bottle of wine!

Jack was a much respected regular at the Kings Head pub for over 50 years where he had claimed his very own seat….. There certainly is a void without his presence.

Jack was a much loved and respected man.
He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Today we said goodbye to Edna ❤️

Edna was fiercely protective of her family. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved dancing…. especially to rock ’n’ roll. She also had a huge fascination with trains, they certainly held such a special part of who she was.

Edna held onto a private faith throughout her life and turned to it in moments when she needed guidance and solace.
But today, we remembered the Edna who would welcome you through the door, put the kettle on and sit you down while putting the world to rights. She was very outspoken and certainly wasn’t afraid to tell you exactly what she thought: “shut your fat face!” Was one of her classics! 😂

Edna was equally capable of giving you a swift right hook or as she would say: “a thick ear”, even at the grand old age of 92!

Edna was one of a kind. Strong, funny, loving and fiercely protective.
Today we remembered her with love, laughter and a few stories that would have probably made her laugh too. ❤️

There are so many aspects of facilitating funerals that I genuinely enjoy. ❤️

When I see a beautiful personal tribute that captures someone’s personality, hobbies and the things they loved, it really does make me smile.

The thought and care that goes into ensuring a loved one’s final farewell reflects them in the finest detail never fails to amaze me.
From service sheets and Forget-Me-Not seeds, to transport, songs, poems and floral tributes… every little detail can tell a story.

Today’s floral tributes particularly made me smile. 🌸 They beautifully captured a devoted nurse, alongside someone who clearly loved holidays, sunshine and sitting under their parasol. 🏖️
It’s these personal touches that make each farewell so unique and meaningful.

Being able to help families create something that truly reflects their loved one is a privilege.

Today we said goodbye to Ian.

Ian was a devoted husband to Dot and together they built a life spanning almost 6 decades filled with adventures holidays, laughter and countless happy memories.

They were regulars at Blackpool Pier, frequently watching Cannon and Ball perform and while at home Ian enjoyed spending time on his amateur radio tapping away in Morse code.

Ian made many friends worldwide and though he didn’t have children of his own, he lovingly unofficially adopted those around him who equally loved him as a family member.

Ian was full of one liners, a cheeky character and deeply devoted to Dot. He will be greatly missed by the many friends who gathered to show their love and condolences today.

After a lovely week away I’m now home.

Today we said goodbye to Peter.

Peter was a devoted husband, dad, grandad and friend to many.

He dedicated much of his career to electrical engineering where his inventive mind and problem-solving skills shone through. After retiring, he channelled that same creativity into designing board games…. several of which were successfully sold in tourist shops.

Peter had a deep passion for politics and I personally thought he would have done a better job at Number 10!!!
He also found great joy in tending to his garden and vegetable patch, completing jigsaw puzzles and travelling with his beloved wife Kath.

Above all, Peter was a kind and valued member of his close-knit community. The neighbours who gathered today to pay their respects were a testament to the impact he had on those around him and the friendships he nurtured over the years.

Peter will be remembered with great affection and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
