This page has the aim of inspiring people/ families to get out and join the great outdoors. If Orrin can do it, anyone can! I hope to be able to start providing route/ parking/ family friendly information. But please be aware, you need to be mindful of your own safety. Its a good idea to go prepared with a lot of clothing (warm/ waterproof) as weather can change quickly. Also carry some extra batt

The most terrifying drive through the mountains in the middle of a thunderstorm when all turned dark, we couldn't see any evidence of a road ahead and saw enough lightning to last a lifetime. As Mum was so happy to be alive, she permitted the purchase of an armpit bag (my brain had melted). We did enjoy the coastal roads after this experience and were grateful to arrive at our beach apartment (albeit over 3hr behind schedule!). The video was the start of the storm, which was very cute.220km 🚗. Total 700km for the trip 🇭🇷

Museum of the Homeland War- a restored 'Hotel California', tanks, weapons and 2 x shot down planes...the most damaged MiG-21 took off from Zeljava Airbase we visited. We also saw some wartime photos of Rastoke and Petrova Gora which we visited too. A little surreal for Mum being back 14 years after stumbling across it mid-moto trip when it was little more than a shot-out shell of a building surrounded by the same tanks and planes.

Moving on to our next accommodation 70km away..... a cute little home-made gypsy caravan (boiling hot and full of crawlies...but all part of the adventure!). Oz made friends with Lasagne the cat and the dogs. What a peaceful place about a mile from the nearest road 🥰 and yummy herbal flower tea picked from the farm

Creepy Petrova Gora...WW2 monument turned military base in the 90s during the Homeland War. Only us there, middle of nowhere, sticking on the paths to avoid landmines and the building creaking like crazy in the 40 deg c heat.....

Epic Korana River swim and jump....and the beautiful village of Rastoke 🥰

Zeljava abandoned airbase on the border of Croatia and Bosnia. Absolutely awesome time exploring the plane and underground hangar tunnels.....we may even have driven down the runway unofficially over the Bosnian border 🤭 someone thoroughly enjoyed shouting down the tunnels and listening to his echo voice!

Plitvicka Jezera..... the most beautiful place we have ever been. 7am tickets to avoid the muggles. 8 miles walked, a boat trip, a (slightly scary) mountain train ride, the bluest water you've ever seen, a water snake and a heck ton of fish. Orrin LOVED it here. (Last time mum went past in 2012, she couldnt stop 🏍....but it was worth every single day of the wait)

Mum and Son adventure to Croatia 🇭🇷 left home at 3am, asleep before our 6am take-off then a 270km drive across Croatia via Vela Draga to look at the abandoned railway (including a very scary hike) then through the Ucka tunnel to our beautiful Lodge. Burek and watermelon for dinner....yummy. Thank goodness for aircon in the car and lodge...over 40 deg c 🫠

House (and animal!) sitting at Nanny and Granands...beach, overgrown fields, milkshakes, darts, football and plenty of Blackpool Airshow action. 10 miles walked!
