2024 PHCC - The Harbour Race Returns After a break of a few years the Poole Harbour Canoe Club has returned. The sea was unusually calm for the races and the sun appeared - to celebrate the return of the annual event. 14-09-24 Bill Richmond

A challenging race around the harbour for kayaks, canoes, skis, outriggers and paddleboards.

There are 3 courses. The 15 and 8 mile courses cross the harbour and circumnavigate Brownsea island. The 4 mile course runs along the shore line past moored yachts and marinas. In the event of rough weather courses will be modified for less stable boats. Skis, Outriggers and Sea kayaks who can remount or roll may still race the courses round Brownsea.

The start is Le Mans style from Lake pier beach on the edge of the harbour. The race is non ranking with wide stretches of open rough water.

Note Paddleboard entries are restricted to competitors with proven race experience, entry will be confirmed after vetting. This year there is only an 8 mile category. In future years the SUP entry categories will be expanded if possible.

Adult per seat £25 + £5 insurance unless exempt

Under 18 per seat £15 + £5 insurance unless exempt

You are exempt if you are

a Paddle UK/British Canoeing member or equivalent national governing body member
a PHCC member as you have PUK/BC associate insurance. Not applicable to other clubs. Sorry.

To prove this you will need to provide your PUK/BC number on the entry form and present at check-in.

(PHCC members please provide your webcollect ID on the entry form.)

Double crews and OC6. Contact me if your combination of junior/adult with/without insurance isn't available and a special bank transfer can be set up for you.
