🏏☀️ Nuneaton Ladies Charity Cricket Tournament – Sunday 30th August ☀️🏏
What a fantastic day of ladies’ cricket, friendship and fundraising in support of Mary Ann Evans Hospice, hosted by Nuneaton Cricket Club. 💕🏏
After a week of storms threatening to put the tournament in doubt, the sun gods were on our side! ☀️🙌 Sunday 30th August turned out to be a beautiful day for the Ladies Charity Cricket Tournament, allowing everyone to get out on the pitch and enjoy the sunshine.
With the unpredictable weather in mind, this year saw a different format, with players from the various teams mixed together. Although different from previous years, it was lovely to see the ladies playing alongside one another rather than competing against each other.
Bringing everyone together created a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another and enjoy the spirit of cricket as a community. There was plenty of laughter, great cricket, team spirit and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day accompanied by some fab music courtesy of DJ Tom Law. 💗🎵
A special thank you also goes to Mike Ellis, who put the ladies through their paces with a warm-up before the cricket got underway! 🏏💪 It was a great way to get everyone moving, warmed up and ready for the day ahead.
A huge thank you and well done to all the ladies’ teams who took part .... 💙🤍Grace Dieu, 💜💚Nuneaton, 💚🤍Atherstone, ❤️💛Sapcote, 🖤🩷Attleborough and 🤍🤎 Fillongley. 👏🏏 We genuinely couldn’t do it without you! Your enthusiasm, support and willingness to come together made the day what it was, and it was fantastic to see so many ladies enjoying their cricket while supporting such a worthwhile cause. 💕
And there was plenty more excitement off the pitch too, with fabulous food trucks, lovely stalls, rides and an amazing selection of raffle prizes! 🎟️🎁 The generosity of those who donated prizes and supported the raffle helped make it a real highlight of the day, while raising valuable funds for the hospice.
The money raised will help support the incredible work of Mary Ann Evans Hospice, providing personalised care for people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families and loved ones. Its dedicated teams and volunteers provide services including Rapid Response, Hospice at Home, wellbeing support, family support and bereavement care, making a real difference to people and families within the local community.
A very special thank you and well done to Katie Yates, who organises this wonderful day each year in memory of her dad, John Yates. 💙 Katie’s dedication keeps John’s memory at the heart of the event while bringing the ladies’ cricket community together to support such a worthwhile cause.
This year, because of the new format, the John Yates Cup was awarded to all the teams, a particularly lovely way to recognise and celebrate everyone’s efforts, participation and team spirit. 💙🏆
A huge thank you to all the players, organisers, volunteers, supporters and prize donors who helped make the day such a success. Every contribution, big or small, helped make a difference. ❤️
And, of course, a special thank you to the sun gods for finally putting in an appearance! ☀️😂
A brilliant day of cricket, friendship, community and fundraising, with John’s memory at its heart. 🏏💗
