Building pull ups numbers while improving their quality can be a trade-off.
The more reps in a set, the more fatigue you accumulate, and the more like you are to start losing shoulder position.
You end up adding reps, but how many of those are quality reps?
Every minute on the minute sets like this help address that trade off. Higher quality reps, moderate fatigue, same total reps.
Back these up with pure strength builders like chin ups, and you have a combination that builds quality and rep numbers.
This is how we've moved Brad from assisted pull ups multiple to reps of full pull-ups in the 5 weeks.
If you're looking to master your Pull Up this year. I've got one Calibrate Session left for the month.

Studio Session - Press and Planche
Late night session after a busy day coaching. Always nice to focus on my own training in the evening to reset for the next day.
Not too much volume, just building some extra strength and capacity before I lengthen the planche in the spring.

Repping away at Pull-Ups will make them stronger, but making them feel smooth and stable asks for real organization of the shoulders and scapula.
This is something I neglected in my early days of calisthenics.
Now I make sure my clients start this process early, and continue it right through their Pull Up journey.
If your pull ups feel unstable or disorganized. Drop me a message and I'll see how I can help 📩
Strength improves over time,
You can optimize things, but there's a ceiling to how fast that happens.
Awareness is different, it can change in a moment,
and with the right reflection or coaching, it can be built to a high level surprisingly fast.
Some of the easiest progress is often left on the table.
Building pull-ups from scratch feels like a big task at first.
So we simplify it.
Using the right amount of support.
Controlling the position.
Slowing the tempo through the negative.
This how we teach your body to tolerate bigger loads before progressing to full reps.
If getting your first pull up is a 2026 goal, get in touch and let’s build it properly.
Sanyam had been struggling with his push ups.
They felt 'funny' and harder than they needed to be.
He wanted form he could trust and build strength from.
We regressed him back to his knees and cued in a scapula position much flatter against his ribcage.
He felt the stability he'd been missing.
Sometimes you just have to take a step back to move forward.
Lifted for years? Been strong in the past?
That strength doesn’t disappear in calisthenics.
I often have lifters come into the studio unsure how much of their strength will carry over.
But after a few sessions, their body adapts to the new demands and that strength starts showing up in spades.
This client is in his third session.
We’ve built solid fundamentals.
Now it’s time to start overloading.
Over the coming weeks we’ll polish his form even more, and keep driving his strength up. This will pave the way for the more advanced skills that most people never earn.
This is the path to more advanced calisthenics,
using all the strength you already have, and sharpening it into precise, usable strength.
