NuFish All England Championship, Springvale
I love the idea of this match - no pools, no cash, just prizes and trophies!
I’ve drawn Newcastle lake with 49 other anglers…. Yes, 50 anglers on the same lake with every peg in! And it’s still fished well!
I’ve caught on a Silo to the island, a few fish shallow at 14m and skimmers & tench at 4m.
With a 50:50 mix of silvers and carp, I’ve weighted 112lb which was best on my side of the lake, but only 5th (I think) of the 50 anglers on the lake.
A big well done to Craig Mee who won the lake and the match with an awesome 172lb. 👏
Thankyou NuFish for a brilliant day out. As for Springvale - what a venue! 🥰 I can’t wait to get back there!

Barby Banks for the open today. I was delighted to draw peg 10, end peg on the straight and a blinding draw.
The fish had other ideas though! Quite quickly I ended up on plan C - slapping a 6mm pellet around. I limped to over 100lb before adding a quick 50lb in the last hour on paste.
I’ve weighed 166lb, which isn’t normally enough to win, so I was pleased when fishery owner Rich Bubb told me it had fished hard and I’ll p**s it…. about 10 minutes before he puts 167lb 13oz on the scales! 😂
Oh well, 2nd overall a great day out.

Division 1 National.
New Junction Canal
My draw at the top end of the canal looked a bit barren to hold big fish, but I fancied it for a few roach, especially as I could see a few swimming about in the clear water. In the last 20 minutes before the start, I saw 3 decent size fish top close in by the lilies, which made me get out a proper rig for fishing there. I need not have bothered, as it turns out they were being spooked by a huge pike!
With that thing in the peg, nothing would settle and I’ve had a complete mare. 18 small roach and perch plus 2 perch fry gave me a very poor 640g for 35th in the 48 peg section.
With most of my regular team Preston Black Horse busy during the summer, I was guesting for the Canal and Rivers Trust Staff team. With my help, they got relegated to Div 2. 🫣
Hmmmmm. Think I best try to forget that one!
Well done to Barnsley on the win - achieved despite 6 squad members away fishing the World Feeder Club champs! 👏
