🔵⚪ NEWTON ALBION | LAST TO ARRIVE 🎤😂 ⚪🔵

This week we welcomed Paignton Saints to Long Lane, but before kick-off there was one big question going around the changing room…

Who was going to be LAST to arrive and have to sing in front of the whole squad? 👀🎤

After Sam Bryan had taken the honours previously, the lads were all waiting to see who would be next…

Then in walked Nathan Clark 😂

The reaction from the lads said it all — everyone was absolutely buzzing that Nathan was the unlucky one! 🤣👏

Rules are rules, so up he got to give the lads a song… 🎤🎶

And to be fair to Nathan… he was actually alright! 👏😂 Maybe we’ve found Newton Albion’s answer to karaoke night!

Fair play to him for being a great sport and getting up there in front of everyone. Another brilliant moment that shows the togetherness and banter within this squad. 💙⚽

Newton Albion vs Paignton Saints

A massive congratulations to Will Harrison, who was named Newton Albion’s Man of the Match after a superb performance against Paignton Saints. 🔵⚪

Playing in midfield, Will put in a brilliant all-round display. He was composed on the ball, strong in the challenge and worked tirelessly throughout the game, helping Albion both defensively and going forward.

His energy and commitment in the middle of the park were outstanding. Will kept battling for possession, looking to get Albion playing and never stopped working for his teammates right through to the final whistle.

A performance full of hard work, determination and quality, and a thoroughly deserved Man of the Match award. 👏

🔵⚪ POST-MATCH REPORT | NEWTON ALBION 0–2 PAIGNTON SAINTS ⚪🔵

Newton Albion suffered our first league defeat of the season on Saturday, going down 2–0 at home to Paignton Saints at Long Lane.

Despite the scoreline, Albion created plenty of chances throughout the game and had opportunities to get ourselves on the scoresheet. Unfortunately, the final touch just wasn't there and we didn't take our chances when they came.

Paignton were more clinical in front of goal and took their opportunities, which ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The lads continued to push and battle right until the final whistle, but it was one of those afternoons where we created the chances but couldn't find the finish.

It's our first defeat after an unbeaten opening two games, leaving us with four points from our first three league matches in our first-ever SDFL Division 5 campaign.

Plenty to learn from, plenty to build on, and if we keep creating opportunities, the goals will come. 💪⚽

🔵⚪ PRE-MATCH SQUAD REVIEW | NEWTON ALBION vs PAIGNTON SAINTS 3RDS ⚪🔵

Newton Albion are back at Long Lane this Saturday as we welcome Paignton Saints 3rds for our third South Devon Football League Division 5 fixture of the season. The FA Full-Time listings confirm the Division 5 meeting for Saturday 19th September.

Albion come into the game unbeaten in our opening two league matches, following the 1–0 win over Broadhempston and last weekend's 2–2 draw away at Waldon Athletic.

Four points from six represents a positive start to our first-ever league campaign, and now the lads will be looking to build on that back on home soil.

There are a few changes within the squad this week, but once again we have a strong 16-man group ready to go. Will Harrison captains the side, while Ted Taylor comes into the game after another hard-working performance in midfield last weekend.

The squad also includes last week's goalscorers Sam Bryan and Dan Kenwood, alongside plenty of attacking options in Ryan Mugford, Cameron Davis and Owen Taylor.

Paignton Saints 3rds will provide another good test. They opened their league season with a 4–4 draw away at Waldon Athletic before producing an emphatic 11–1 victory over Newton Rovers 2nds last weekend, so Albion know we will need to be switched on from the first whistle.

Newton Albion return to South Devon Football League Division 5 action this Saturday as we welcome Paignton Saints 3rds to Long Lane for our third league game of the season. ⚽

Albion head into the game unbeaten after our opening two league fixtures, having started our first-ever league campaign with a 1–0 victory over Broadhempston before picking up a point away at Waldon Athletic in an entertaining 2–2 draw. That leaves the lads with four points from the opening two games and plenty of positives to build on.

Last weekend was a tough one to take after Albion led 2–1 at half-time at Windmill Hill, with goals from Sam Bryan and Dan Kenward, only for Waldon to grab a late equaliser. Despite the disappointment, it was another battling performance and showed the character within this young squad.

This weekend brings another test against Paignton Saints 3rds, who have already shown they can score goals this season, starting their campaign with a 4–4 draw against Waldon Athletic before recording an emphatic 11–0 victory over Newton Rovers 2nds last weekend.

Albion know we will need to be switched on from the first whistle, but after a strong start to life in Division 5, the lads will be looking to make home advantage count and continue our unbeaten start to the season. 💪

We’ve got a little tradition going at Newton Albion — the last person to arrive on matchday has to stand up and sing in front of the whole squad! 🎶⚽

And this week, for the second time, it was Sam Bryan who got the honour! 😂🎤

Fair play to Sam, what a great sport he is for getting up there and giving it a go again. 👏

But probably the best part was hearing all the lads joining in towards the end. Moments like that show exactly what we’re building at Newton Albion — not just a football team, but a group of lads who enjoy being together and have a laugh along the way. 💙

Waldon Athletic 2–2 Newton Albion

A massive well done to Ted Taylor, who was selected as Man of the Match by the Waldon Athletic manager after an outstanding performance for Newton Albion. 👏⚽

Playing in centre midfield, Ted showed exactly the attitude we want to see in an Albion shirt. His hard work, commitment and determination were there from the first whistle to the last.

Ted covered every blade of grass, battled for every ball and was prepared to put his body on the line for the team. Even as the game went on, his work rate never dropped and he kept fighting right until the final whistle.
To be recognised by the opposition manager makes the award even more deserved and shows just how much of an impression Ted’s performance made.

🔵⚪ POST-MATCH REPORT | WALDON ATHLETIC 2–2 NEWTON ALBION ⚪🔵

Newton Albion picked up a point on the road after a 2–2 draw against Waldon Athletic at Windmill Hill.

Albion put in a strong first-half performance and went into the break 2–1 ahead, showing plenty of fight, determination and quality.

⚽ Sam Bryan got on the scoresheet with a fantastic long-range strike, giving the keeper little chance.

⚽ Dan Kenward was also on target as Albion deservedly took the advantage into half-time.

The second half was a real battle, with Waldon pushing hard for an equaliser. Albion worked tirelessly to protect the lead and looked on course to take all three points.
Unfortunately, with the game entering its final moments, Waldon grabbed a last-minute equaliser to make it 2–2 and ensure the points were shared.

It was a frustrating way to finish after being ahead for so long, but there are still plenty of positives to take from another competitive performance in our first-ever South Devon Football League Division 5 campaign.

Four points from our opening two league games gives us a solid start and something to build on. 💪🔵⚪
