A good match for the neutral down at Churchill this morning.

It was an even game throughout with Backworth leading 1-0 through Matt Hughes capitalising on an awkward corner from Logan Nee

We concede 2 goals, including a great strike, and then equalise through Damien Cowell with a smart finish at the back post.

89th minute came about and a Duncow set piece was put to the back post where their player was unmarked and managed to volley home from 6 yards out.

We felt a draw was probably fair however can’t complain too much about the result, Dun Cow were well organised and had some very good individual displays.

We move onto preparation for Blyth Town this Sunday

The lads welcomed Walbottle under the lights (Gaffers phone torch) at Churchill this evening looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance on Sunday.

With the vengaboys echoing through the changing rooms, we were in very high spirits before the match started.

It was a high pressing, fast paced performance from the very start which Walbottle struggled to live with.

Can’t remember the exact order the goals went in due to there being a hells angels display behind one of the goals, more hairdryer than Harley Davidson but still impressive

Conceded a penalty as Liam Brown decided to bear hug a Walbottle player round the neck and then a second goal that bounced awkwardly after a corner and wrong footed everyone on the pitch, still not sure how it went in.

6 different goal scorers on the day, dominant performance, Thursdays are mint, Backworth fullbacks are half Brazilian, hughesy is built like a hotel, Lewis bell scores goals, Ryan’s not a left back, Logan would moan about winning the lottery, JC sprints when he wants, Xavi and Iniesta will be watching highlights of Dale and Max,Jordan’s a brick wall, Liam could catch Jeffrey dahmer in minutes, subs were absolute animals, up the club

Defeat on the opening day of the season

We weren’t at the races today against a good Whickham side.

Some poor decisions at the back led to the first goal, a great volley into the top corner and a perfectly placed free kick saw us lose the game 3-0.

We created chances and dominated set pieces but unfortunately couldn’t find the net for the first time in 5 games.

We go again on Thursday as we host Walbottle at Churchill 👊🏻👊🏻

The lads wrapped up preseason today gaining 4 wins from 4 in a dominant performance against Turbinia.

A few mistakes from us and a goal line scramble allowed Turbinia to close the gap however Backworth were on top throughout the full 80 mins (due to an early full time whistle by the ref)

This was a battling performance from both sides with tackles flying in, Sunday league handbags and some off the ball antics, all of which were met by our lads with smiles on their faces.

We were fantastic today and had the ref allowed the game to go on for the full duration, we think there would have been more goals in it for us.

An unbeaten preseason campaign is the perfect start to our competitive season which starts next week.
