It’s good to have a change in routine, but there is also something quite lovely in getting back to normal!
Very grateful to be surrounded by a great group of regulars who have made Pilates part of the fabric of their daily lives.
Give it a little time (or maybe you will feel it immediately) and you will experience the huge benefits Pilates brings to your body and mind. Pilates is the bedrock that keeps everything together and it is no surprise most professional athletes practice Pilates alongside their normal training.
Can’t wait to have you back, group classes start from 3rd September onwards 🧘🏻♀️

(Long post incoming….)
There is no doubt Pilates is extremely popular right now and it feels like there is a new Pilates studio opening every 5 minutes on every street corner. It is incredible that Pilates is now so visible and more and more people can experience the benefits of the Pilates method.
The down side is the there has been a huge shift in focus to the aesthetics. Socials are promising the ‘Pilates body’, advertising all the incredibly advanced moves, all modelled by teachers who are often from a trained background in gymnastics or dance.
Worse still there are training course out there offering a weekend online training course, and from there you’re allowed to promote yourself as a Pilates teacher.
The reality is good teachers don’t often have this background. They have earned their dues studying long term, putting the hour’s in with a reputable training school.
Good teachers come in all shapes and sizes and perhaps teach whilst managing injuries or health conditions themselves.
Because of this they may never be able to perform the advanced ‘visually exciting’ moves.
But that’s ok, they can still be an incredible teacher because understand REAL bodies, understand limitations and know how to modify and offer support and solutions.
A good teacher understands the challenges, both mental and physical of injury.
They appreciate how the aging process can bring change and new challenges.
They empathise with the significant challenges and demands of pregnancy and post natal conditions.
They understand real people.
They understand Pilates is NOT aesthetics. It’s about ensuring each person in front of them can develop their Pilates technique in a safe and functional way. The goal is to exercise without pain, gaining strength, flexibility and stamina regardless of what health conditions their body may present. Each person in their class will always feel they are moving forward in their physical health even if life presents a curve ball or health challenge.
I want to thank every one of my clients who attends my sessions. I always hope each one of you feels seen in the class, and feels the benefit Pilates can bring. I appreciate every one of you.

If you find these balance drills challenging, it’s time to work on your balance. Balance can dramatically decline as we age and lose strength. Happily consistent training can rebuild this ability. I run specific pilates classes to help improve balance. If you want to join drop me a message for further info 🧘🏻♀️
