Very excited to announce that I have passed my Rock Climbing Instructor assessment this weekend

It has been so long on the making and it feels SOOOOOO good to finally be able to offer sessions and courses outdoors - climbing outside feel like a proper adventure 🧗‍♀️

On the Rocks ✅

Taking a little break this week, but couldn’t travel to a country known for its volcanic mountain landscape and leave the trad rack at home…

With RCI assessment coming up a week off climbing was never an option (or even an ambition!). A four hour flight ✈️ a Facebook group appeal and an 80 minute walk in later and I got on my first ever international trad route (Via Del Dierdro in Las Cañadas), a very scenic and slightly odd multi pitch that I really would love to go back and do again and again for that view 😍

Finishing off the day at a completely silent lookout point (never knew you could feel silence!) above a sea of cloud, penetrated only by the peaks of the surrounding islands… utterly beautiful

Abseiling, top roping, a bit of weasling (and some snacking!) with an incredible bunch of people - and a chance for .climbs to practice some of her skills before an upcoming assessment…

Excellent day out on the rock at Box Bay, closing in on the last of my trad leads before RCI assessment!

Starting to get properly excited now about what the future holds, made my first VS on lead today - a small milestone for some, but for me it’s two grades above what I have been aiming for. It was very comfortable and I’m encouraged to keep pushing 🙌

Making sure that the equipment I use for my courses is safe is critical, and there are few people in Wales who have more experience than Matt in this area!

Got to see some really unusual bits of kit from yesteryear and the bestest boy in the whole wide world (no, not Matt)… Bo! 🐶

My learn to climb and taster courses are already kicking off this year - I’m very excited for some of the groups I’ve got coming my way and you could be next!

Beeeaauuuutiful Sunday climbs with the crew! Started the day with some bouldering (with a few of us sneaking off for a scramble!) and then I remembered I had my rope library back at my car, and so the afternoon was spent top roping even an abseil to finish!

Excellent vibes, great company and we are DEFINITELY doing that again soon ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

It’s been a busy week of taster sessions this week, accommodating families, friends and colleagues!

Four wonderful days spent in completing my shadowing in preparation for RCI assessment (later this year of if I get my skates on!)

Flitting between the mighty popular Cow & Calf on (brought a hat!) and working with groups and doing some one to one with a client too!

Starting to populate the diary with some indoor work in the coming weeks, any referrals to me would be greatly appreciated - just drop me a DM whether it’s learning to climb, upskilling your belaying or just building confidence on the rope!

Plenty of anchor building, abseiling with the occasional bit of climbing thrown in 🧗‍♀️ really cannot recommend Stu enough, whether you’re looking for courses or just a fun day out on the rocks in some really beautiful locations.

Also many thanks to the ever-welcoming for our indoor day. Always enjoy a visit with a club or friends for some personal climbing 💖.
