Unfortunately, yesterday just wasn’t our day. From the first whistle, we struggled to find our rhythm — two sloppy corners and missed clearances saw us fall behind early. We never quite looked ourselves, and against a very impressive Falkirk side sitting top of the league and still undefeated, we found it tough to get going.

Despite flashes of effort and moments of grit, we couldn’t turn the tide. Falkirk’s intensity and composure kept us chasing, and while we showed glimpses of fight, we didn’t challenge them the way we know we can.

Still, there were positives to take. #13 McAteer stood tall throughout — brave, composed, and relentless — earning Woman of the Match. And #8 Grant found the net with a well‑taken penalty.

This defeat stings as we wanted to try make an impact on the league, but it’s fuel for what’s next.

The focus now turns to this Saturday’s final — a chance to show our true character, bounce back, and prove exactly what Holytown Colts football is all about.

🔴⚫ FULL‑TIME | Holytown Colts U16s Girls 4–2 Glenrothes Strollers U16s

A cracking result for the girls tonight against a very strong Glenrothes side.

Glenrothes struck first with a free‑kick after a habd ball decision l, but Holytown responded brilliantly — Steell pounced on a loose ball in the box to level things up.

Moments later, Wallace stepped up and smashed an indirect free‑kick straight into the roof of the net. Glenrothes kept pressing and found an equaliser to make it 2–2, but the Colts refused to back down.

The game turned fiery, with strong tackles flying in. The girls kept their composure and pushed on. From a superb corner, Kerr volleyed home an absolute beauty to restore the lead.

From there, Holytown started to play some lovely football — quick passes, confident movement, and teamwork shining through.

Hard graft from Cameron up front paid off as she slid a perfect ball through to Grant, who curled a stunning left‑footer into the top corner.

A fantastic performance on grass against a tough, physical opponent — the girls earned every bit of this win. 👏

🏆 Inchyra Tournament – Central Cup Champions!

The girls travelled to the Inchyra Tournament today, originally drawn against Falkirk YPL, Sauchie, and Ross County. With Ross County unable to attend, the group was reduced to three teams and match times were extended to 35 minutes.

⚽ Group Stage Battles

We opened with a fiercely competitive match against Falkirk YPL, where despite strong spells of play, we fell 2–0. The response was immediate. Up next were Sauchie, and the girls delivered a brilliant performance, securing a 1–0 win thanks to a stunning free kick from #28 Wallace.

Tournament adjustments meant we were then drawn into a play-off against Inverness, who edged the game 1–0. That result dropped us into the Central Cup, and from there… the girls absolutely came alive.🔥

Central Cup Run
We faced Sauchie once again, and the girls controlled the match from start to finish, winning 2–0. A superb long ball from #20 McGinty in goals found #17 Salamonska, who finished calmly.

Moments later, #8 Grant reacted brilliantly to a blocked effort and tucked away the second. That victory booked our place in the Central Cup Final.

🏁 The Final vs Giffnock
We came up against a very strong Giffnock side — joint top of Group A and impressive throughout the day. But our girls saved their best football for the biggest moment.

After a spell of brilliant passing and pressure, #17 Salamonska unleashed an absolute rocket, smashing off the post and in. Minutes later, #8 Grant stepped up again, launching a long‑range strike over the keeper to seal the win. Central Cup Champions. A phenomenal achievement against top-quality opposition.

🌟 Overall Performance

Throughout the day, the girls produced spells of football that were genuinely fantastic to watch.

Yes, there were moments where we became a little sluggish, but the final two games showed exactly what this team is capable of when they dig in and play with confidence, aggression, and belief.

The coaches are incredibly proud of the effort, attitude, and quality shown — especially in the closing stages.🚀

We delivered a confident, commanding performance today, running out 5–1 winners in a game that showcased both our quality and our character.

From the first whistle, the girls set the tone with composure, sharp passing, and some genuinely brilliant link‑up play. The movement off the ball was clever, the tempo was high, and we controlled large spells of the match with real authority.

Drumchapel were a strong, physical side, and to their credit they matched us in certain areas of the pitch. That pressure led to a spell where we became too comfortable, losing control of the ball and allowing our play to slip into something a bit sloppy. But the response was exactly what you want to see — the girls reset, refocused, and got back to playing the dangerous, intelligent football we know they’re capable of.
