Last Saturday, Hugo stepped into the MTR ring for his amateur debut, taking on a tough opponent. He battled hard through all three rounds and, although he came up short on points, he gained invaluable experience that will help shape his next performance.

We believe there are no shortcuts to becoming a champion. The only way forward is to keep stepping into the ring, testing yourself against strong opponents, and learning from every fight.

Every round is a lesson. Every fight is a step closer to the top.

🎬 Meet the man behind Risingstar Muaythai Gym!

Many of you know our head coach, Matt Mak, as a Muay Thai coach and former Hong Kong representative. But did you know he has another career as a professional stunt performer and action specialist?
Before moving to the UK, Matt trained many Hong Kong actors in Muay Thai for film and television productions. Since relocating, he has continued working in the film industry, collaborating on international productions alongside stars including Tom Hardy and Donnie Yen.
Last week, Matt attended the red carpet premiere of Jackie the Stripper as the film’s action Coordinator—another exciting milestone in his action career.
With his unique experience in both competitive martial arts and the film industry, we’re excited to announce that we may be launching Film Action Training Classes in the future, covering screen combat, action movement, and stunt fundamentals.
