Yesterday, Redwell Road came alive for our annual Rum & Reggae event – one day in the year that makes a huge difference to our grassroots rugby club.

Like so many community sports clubs, keeping the doors open, maintaining our facilities and providing rugby for our players and young people comes with ever-increasing costs. Events like Rum & Reggae aren’t just about a great day out – they help our club survive, grow and continue to be here for our community.

A little reminder that our Girls Development Squad is back at Redwell Road tomorrow morning!

Our sessions are aimed at girls going into Years 3, 4 and 5 – and absolutely no rugby experience is needed. It’s all about having fun, making friends, building confidence and giving rugby a go! 🖤🤍🩷

⭐ Are happy to work as part of a busy team

🏉 2026/27 SEASON UPDATE | MATSON RFC

Following the latest announcement from the RFU, the start of the competitive community rugby season has been delayed until the week commencing Monday 21st September.

Like many clubs across the country, we’ve seen first-hand the impact the prolonged dry weather has had on our pitches at Redwell Road. Player welfare and safety must always come first, so we fully understand the decision that has been made.

Of course, we know everyone is itching to get back out there and get the 2026/27 season underway! 🖤🤍

Our coaches and committee will now work through what the announcement means for our upcoming fixtures and preparations, and we’ll share further updates with players, supporters and sponsors as soon as we have them.

In the meantime, training continues, the work continues and we’ll make sure we’re ready when competitive rugby returns. 💪

☀️ GIRLS DEVELOPMENT SQUAD – TONIGHT’S SESSION CANCELLED ☀️

Unfortunately, due to the extreme hot weather, we’ve made the decision to cancel tonight’s Girls Development Squad session.

The safety and wellbeing of the girls comes first, and with the temperatures expected this evening, we feel this is the right decision.

But don’t worry – we’ve added an extra session! 🏉🩷

Our session on Thursday 20th August, 6–7pm will also still go ahead as planned.
