📣 Message from the Evans family

We would like to thank everyone for their kind words, messages of support and flowers in what has been the worst time in all our lives.
It means a lot to see how much Jamie was loved.
We are truly devastated and broken beyond words, our beautiful, funny kind and most talented son taken from us. Love you forever Jay ❤️❤️

The club are deeply saddened to hear the heartbreaking news of the passing of former player Jamie Evans.

Jamie spent much of his childhood down at Bearstone Road, watching his dad, Paul ‘Jister’ Evans, play his cricket. After bowling his 20 overs, Jist would often spend hours after the game giving Jamie throwdowns — moments that undoubtedly helped shape the talented cricketer he would go on to become.

Jamie started his cricket in the 2nd XI alongside his dad before making his 1st XI debut at just 14 years of age.
Even at such a young age, Jamie’s talent was clear for all to see. His wicketkeeping was already amongst the best in the league, and in his first season in the 1st XI he finished 2nd in the league for dismissals by a wicketkeeper. His career continued to go from strength to strength, including scoring his first 1st XI century at just 16 years old.

Jamie was an exceptionally talented cricketer, but above all, he was a lovely lad and a great friend to so many people within the club.

To lose someone so young is incredibly difficult to comprehend, and Jamie will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and sharing a cricket field with him.

Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with Paul, the Evans family, and all of Jamie’s friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Jamie. You will never be forgotten. 🕊️

🚜 Super 8’s tournament 🚜

Our inter-club super 8’s tournament returns this Sunday! A fantastic day featuring a round robin tournament between 4 teams, all captained by one of our 1stXI players. Each team is made up of a mixture of senior cricketers, junior cricketers and non playing members! If anyone would like to get involved, we are still accepting participants, any ability welcome!

The first match will begin at 10:30am, and fixtures will run all throughout the day with the final being held around 6pm.

Food will be available on the day, along with the bar being open all day.

Why not come down on bank holiday Sunday and witness what should be an excellent day down at the club!

After his last game of 2026 for the tractor boys yesterday, we say goodbye to Salman Khan as he heads back to Pakistan for their domestic season.

Not only one of the best players we have had the pleasure of watching, also one of the nicest lads you are likely to meet.

Finishing this season with 870 runs, at an average of 48.33, including 4 100’s and 1 50, with a top score of 171. He also took 29 wickets during his time at Bearstone Road.

We are delighted to announce that Salman has signed a contract for the 2027 season, and we are very excited to see what he can do for us next year with his first year in England under his belt.

Thank you for everything Salman Khan, good luck this winter and we’ll see you next year!
