Did you know AAC can play an important role in supporting people with aphasia?

Our Speech and Language Therapists, Kate L and Kate R, have collaborated with Smartbox AAC - UK and Ireland to discuss how they work with people to find communication strategies and AAC solutions that are tailored to their individual needs, helping them express themselves and stay connected with those around them.

What an incredible couple of CPD days! 🎉

A huge thank you to all of our fantastic speakers and everyone who attended and took part.

Day 1 was packed with inspiring presentations from our ATtherapy team, alongside our special guests Becky Tyler who delivered a thought-provoking session exploring AAC and dyslexia with ATtherapy speech and language therapist Ruth.

In the afternoon, our team got hands-on with a range of engaging workshops, including: Bananas to Beats – a fun and interactive Playtronica session led by Sarah, Amy and Bekki. Can You See What I See? – an immersive workshop led by Steph, our Qualified Teacher of Visual Impairment, giving the attendees the opportunity to experience a simulation of visual impairment. Our ATmentors, Gregor, Aid, Ruby and Sarah-Jane also delivered an fantastic workshop!
It was fantastic to come together to learn, collaborate and share ideas that will help us continue providing the very best support for the people we work with. We can’t wait to show you more!

Last week, ATtherapy and ATmentors had a brilliant workshop with Smartboxers Rebecca, Dan and Harri at the North West office. It is brilliant to have the opportunity to share our clinical experience and lived experience with AAC suppliers and think about what the future of AAC could look like.

Here’s Adam and Aid’s feedback as AAC users:

‘It was lovely to see the team again and brainstorm ideas.’ - Aidan Holmes

‘Very good event, I especially enjoyed the social element!’ - Adam Lenartowicz
