This applies to many of my gym clients too. I work with corporate professionals that are functional in every-day movement but dysfunctional in isolation.
How do you improve technical quality WITHOUT losing instinctive, creative and functional flair?
I find that a combination of VERY SIMPLE high rep work and less restrictive exercises works best.
How do you approach this?
Joint alignment proving CRUCIAL for performance once again.
Yes, mobility at the pelvis is essential for power output, but it must be controlled or youāll create imbalances and cause overuse injuries.
Iām calling for Manchester footballers to check their POSTURE and JOINT ALIGMENT so that they avoid unnecessary strain and injury.

Why is it important?
Poor posture leads to FATIGUE, OVERUSE INJURIES and CHRONIC PAIN, not to mention the psychological impacts.
In addition to LOOKING BETTER⦠good posture allows you to move efficiently, distribute load appropriately, and maintain control, increasing your capacity for ATHLETIC and CORPORATE PERFORMANCE.
MOVE, BUILD then PERFORM (in that order)
REMINDER - Good posture isnāt about standing perfectly still. Itās about having the strength, mobility and control to maintain efficient alignment while you move.

My philosophy:
MOVE - performance is an injury hazard WITHOUT stable, full-range movement.
BUILD - this is where you develop the skills for your chosen pursuit; strength, technique, endurance etc.
PERFORM - you must learn the art of performance. Movement and skills arenāt enough.
Which level of the performance pyramid do you struggle with the most?

For the CDMā¦
The āaround the cornerā pass is extremely effective and makes you look VERY GOOD.
It gets you out of pressure, scares defenders and consistently leads to chances.
The only downside⦠itās difficult to perform.
PRACTICE.

Before Vs. After
A classic example of āless is moreā!
- More efficient movement
- Better energy conservation
- Improved ball control
Work on the fine details to gain the edge.

No need to jump HIGHER, as long as you do these 3 things:
1. Identify your opponent early
2. Arms up to guard your space
3. Donāt lose track of the ball
MUST-HAVE: reactive stability to hold off your opponent.
Iāll expand on ādeveloping reactive stabilityā later on but the basic idea is to FIRST - strengthen your stabiliser muscles and SECOND - condition your nervous system by applying ārandomā external stimulus (emulating game-like body contact). Itās about nervous system efficiency rather than size.
