Hawk Green Cricket Club

After an insane amount of cricket over recent weeks it’s a relatively quiet one for Hawk Green this week. Still lots on but an opportunity to put the focus on our Women’s Team who play at home on Sunday and our U9s who go to High Lane on Saturday.

Oh, and there’s the small matter of a semi-final and possible final to be thinking about! That’s right. The one you’ve all been waiting for! The U11s play in the semi-final of the High Peak league on Thursday with a possible final on the Sunday too. Good luck to them!

🏏 WEEKEND ROUND UP 🏏

Glorious weekend of sunshine this weekend and lots of cricket played……..

1st XI lost a nail biter against Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge in the final over after posting 223, with Faisal Khan too scoring with 45. The 2nd XI lost out to Mellor, falling short chasing 162. Kieran Henderson (sponsored by SOS Hygiene Technologies) with figures of 4/15 off 9 with the ball, Tom Pollard top scoring with the bat with 24.

On Sunday, the 3rd XI lost a similarly@tight game at Offerton. Bowled out for 120, with Jack Dutton top scoring with 38, Offerton chased successfully with a couple of wickets to spare despite figures of 3/11 from Reuben Stewart.

CRICKET’S COMING HOME!

Rhode Field will be busy this week with something on almost every day at the home of cricket! Football will take centre stage in the clubhouse this Saturday evening but not before lots of cricket is played!

🏏 SATURDAY ROUND UP 🏏

A win for the 1st XI away at Offerton successfully chasing 195/8 after 3/30 from Faisal and 3/49 from Ateeq. In reply, Badger Stu raised his bat above his head to positive effect for 54, Saqib Qadeer 43 and Tom Newton with 40 saw Green home.

The 2nd XI lost at home to Aston. Having been set 201, with Jacob O’Reilly (sponsored by Kameleoon) 4/50, Andy Nixon (sponsored by Alex Wilson Agencies) 3/31 and Kieran Henderson (sponsored by SOS Hygiene Technologies) 2/29 taking the wickets, they fell short in the run chase at 131 all out - Mark Baker (sponsored by Brendan Pattison & Son Ltd) scoring 44.

Selections are in! 1st XI away at Offerton 1st XI and a young 2nd XI side are at home vs. Aston 2nd XI.

Promises to be a cracking weekend of cricket. 2nd XI at home on Saturday vs. top of the table Toft, 1st XI away day on the Wirral. On Sunday it’s a short journey down the road for the 3rd XI to High Lane. And on Saturday night the England game is on in the clubhouse!!!! 🏏 ☀️ 🍺
