2nd run at Pennington Flash after doing it back in Dec 2023. Quite a tough course compared to the local flat ones I'm used to but always good to challenge yourself.

Top 3 finish again like last time but over 2 mins quicker today as there were winter conditions when I did it back in 2023.

As an Evertonian was great to see Andy Burnham and chat Football with him on the way to the start line along with !

St Helens parkrun

My first run at St Helens Parkrun and can only say positive things about this one.

Parking was easy, it wasn't too crowded and I was able to run at a decent pace. There is a hilly section that you have to run up more than once but there is a downhill soon after which helps you recover.

An added bonus was the free tea and coffee etc at the end!

Finished in 19:08 (6th place)

Excellent first session from my new client, Darren, this morning.

5 x 1K off 2 mins rest with an average of 3:57/km

Looking forward to pushing him towards his target of a sub 20 min 5K in the next couple of months.

The weather this week was particularly bad (for June) and it's easy to let it put you off and make excuses not to train.

But progress comes from training consistently and that means turning up even when obstacles present themselves. Tiredness, the weather, general life stresses.

If you can still get out and train despite contending with these challenges, you are giving yourself a great chance of improving longer term!

Allen came to me from a football referee background, but shifted his focus to general running fitness and improving his 5K time.

He regularly shows great commitment when training with me, pushing on through fatigue and tired legs towards the end of tough interval sessions.

We ran at Stretford Parkrun together in April with him getting 32:16 which was his best 5K time since starting with me.
