Maybe a look at the CB pairing of the future vs an actual PL side ?

Another look at Armer and Lacey would be nice...

Mainly, let's just hope no one else gets hurt heading into the season 🤞

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir to join Celta Vigo on season-long loan 05/08/2026

2 more goalies out but no other sales finalized (yet) to fund other incomings (Amass and Collyer rumored to be available to prospective buyers and then whatever is the deal with Rashford)

Vaguely recall a figure of $250mil being available this summer and can't see how we've come even close to spending that on Tielemans, Santos, and Thompson (Darrow was on a free), so there should be enough left to bring in a strong CDM and/or CB (Murillo ?)... or take a shot at a highlight striker for depth (Osimhen ? Neto ?) if Rashford moves out

(Also, Newcastle sanctioning the sale of Guimaraes might indicate a planned rebuild. If so, perhaps Lewis Hall might be more available ?)

Getting closer to the end of the transfer window (and to the beginning of the season 😃)... if Madrid completes the Rodri transfer, it's highly likely that they will move out someone like Cavaminga or Tchouameni just to make the financials work. No idea of value or even of actual fit, but they both play in a position of need for us.

Otherwise, Alex Scott and Adam Wharton are still out there (but no idea if they're actually for sale). If none of that pans out, it might makes sense to slide Licha in at CDM and/or see of Mount can also rotate in that position for this season. Both are versatile, intelligent players with good work rate but also with poor injury records. If so, we could focus on Murillo or Chalobah as additions to the CB rotation (at least for this season) and just run with it. If Santos proves to be better than expected and/or if Tielemans still has his legs, we're fine in that center but could use some CB rotation until Yoro and Heaven or more ready for prime time (bc Harry will likely tire or get hurt, and Deligt might not even make it back anytime soon). Armer seems promising but is probably a year or so away from being PL-ready but might pinch in for League Cup/FA Cup.

Lewis Hall would be a great addition if it doesn't break the bank, but Robinson might also do fine as cover for Luke Shaw. Otherwise, we take our chances with Harry Amass or rotate Dorgu in ?

Unless we get a bargain at forward/wing, it might make the most sense to reintegrate Rashford and hope Carrick is some sort of player whisperer and revisit the attack in January or next summer. Too many options and too much rotation might make chemistry a challenge. It's silly season and will likely get worse for the next few weeks, but it's hard to remake an entire roster in 1 summer.

Tynan Thompson signs for United | Manchester United 20/07/2026

Another potential signing for the future (or for a future sale) - most of us have never heard of the kid, but even if he's "just" a contributor and not a starter, the 8 mil fee is palatable (think Malacia or Bayinder in the worst case scenario)

Tynan Thompson signs for United | Manchester United Manchester United have agreed the signing of exciting young winger Tynan Thompson, subject to registration.

Might be a good chance to see some of the kids who might either be contributing/breaking through to the first team soon OR might be gone on loan soon

Looks like something from a few years ago 🧐

Might take some getting used to visually 🤨

Manchester United set to finalise Youri Tielemans move from Aston Villa due to £35m release clause 13/07/2026

Well, this came out of nowhere... props to Ineos for keeping quiet and moving (presumably) quickly, but weren't they not keen on 30 year old players ?

Some of us wanted him from Brighton (Leichester ?), and the guy probably has another 1-2 years of high level production. From that perspective and the current market standards, 35mil isn't bad.

It almost seems like we could’ve just brought back Sam Johnstone if Vitek didn’t want to stay instead of getting another goalie from outside 🤔

Not entirely against this as a depth move in a position of need but don't think we needed to pay 50mil if that's accurate

Maybe Santos and Ederson incoming goes some way in Bournemouth/Real Merde/Brighton not holding us hostage in regards to Scott/Tchouameni/Baleba since we'rell have... something in midfield already... here's hoping Santos being underwhelming incoming works out like Lammens did (and they're both fit the age profile which makes sense)

Is Manchester United Suffering A Bad Summer Transfer Window? 01/07/2026

Not at all plussed about not overpaying for Fernandes - someone who never clearly expressed a desire to join us over Tottenham and who was the starting midfielder for 2 teams which got relegated in back-to-back seasons doesn't scream "you need me at all costs"

.. but we do need to keep looking for solid midfield options if not world-class options now just to have enough bodies for 4 competitons. Another option is to slide Licha into CDM and go get another solid/high level CB to slot into that rotation. Hope isn't a strategy, but Collyer could have a role to play here too if he could stay healthy.

Could also look at bringing back Garner (would also likely cost less than some of the other names) if Tchouameni or Nmecha or Stiller or Tonali, etc, aren't available, keen, or affordable... there are options but it's time to ook further afield
