🚶♀️✨ Day 5 Post Hip Replacement – 1,000 Steps! ✨🚶♀️
Today felt like a real milestone… 1,000 steps on two crutches! 🎉
Considering that just a few days ago I was struggling with low blood pressure, dizziness and wondering how quickly I’d get back on my feet, this feels like a huge achievement.
Recovery isn’t about racing to the finish line – it’s about celebrating every little win along the way. Every step is helping me rebuild strength, confidence and independence. 💪
I’m still listening to my body, taking things slowly and remembering that healing isn’t always a straight line. There will be good days and more challenging ones, but today I’m choosing to celebrate this moment. ❤️
Thank you so much to everyone who has sent messages, checked in on me and cheered me on. Your support really does make a difference.
Here’s to the next milestone… one step at a time. 🦴✨

Day 5 Post Op 🩷
Day 5 and this photo represents so much more than just a cuddle with Toffee. 🐾
There are some huge milestones hidden in this one picture…
✅ My new right leg is lying completely straight. For years my hip had become locked in flexion, so seeing my leg finally able to rest naturally feels like a little miracle. It’s something most people would never notice, but to me it’s a massive reminder of why I had this surgery.
And then there’s Toffee… 🐶❤️
Our little rescue poodle has only been with us since September, but somehow he seems to know exactly what I need. Every time he curls up beside me, he gently places his paw across my hips as if he’s protecting them. Whether it’s instinct or just love, it’s the sweetest thing.
Recovery isn’t just about walking further or taking fewer painkillers. It’s about celebrating the little victories that remind you you’re moving forwards.
One straight leg.
One protective paw.
One very grateful heart. 🙏💕
Here’s to whatever Day 6 brings… 💪✨

🏡✨ Day 4 Post Hip Replacement ✨🏡
So happy to be home! 💙
Progress is coming along nicely and I’m delighted to say the zimmer frame has already been retired. 🎉 I’m now weight-bearing through my new hip using two crutches, which feels like a big milestone.
Recovery isn’t about rushing—it’s about taking one careful step at a time. Every day brings a little more confidence and a little more strength. 💪
My next goal is to gradually increase my walking distance and build my exercise tolerance, whilst listening to my body and letting it heal properly. 🚶♀️❤️
A huge thank you to everyone who has sent messages, cards and well wishes. Your kindness has kept my spirits high and means more than you know. 🥰
Onwards and upwards… one step at a time! 🌟

Well… this hip replacement clearly didn’t read the script! 🤦♀️😂
I have to admit, this recovery has been nothing like last year’s.
My blood pressure has decided it wants to audition for the basement, which means my pain relief options are limited. Every time I try to sit in a chair or stand up, my body seems to think I’m entering a fainting competition! 🥴🩺 So, for now, it’s back to lying flat and being far less independent than I’d hoped.
As someone who is always telling everyone else to “keep moving”, it’s slightly ironic that my body has replied with, “How about… absolutely not?” 🤣
It has been frustrating at times, but recovery isn’t a race and every surgery is different. This one is simply teaching me a little more patience (whether I wanted the lesson or not! 😅).
The good news is my blood tests are reassuring, so now it’s just a case of getting this stubborn blood pressure to cooperate and taking one small step at a time. I know I’ll get there… even if my body is currently behaving like a slightly temperamental toddler! 💙
Thank you so much for all your lovely messages, good wishes and support. They really do lift my spirits, and I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love when the time is right.
Until then… I’ll be over here negotiating with my circulatory system! 😂❤️

💪 Your muscles do so much more than help you move!
Did you know that muscle is one of the most powerful organs for healthy ageing? Every time you exercise, your muscles release natural chemicals called myokines that benefit your whole body. 🧠❤️
Strong muscles can help:
✅ Improve blood sugar control
✅ Support brain health & memory
✅ Protect your bones
✅ Reduce inflammation
✅ Lower your risk of falls
✅ Help you stay independent for longer
Building muscle isn’t about having the “perfect body”… it’s about investing in your future health, mobility, and quality of life. 🌟
Your future self will thank you for every workout you do today. 💙

✨ A little milestone today… ✨
Today is my last clinic before I take a short break for my right hip replacement surgery this Friday.
It feels a little surreal. 💙 As always, I’ll be giving 100% to every patient I see today, but I’d be lying if I said there weren’t a few mixed emotions. After years of helping others move better, it’s now my turn to become the patient and focus on my own recovery.
I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who has trusted me with their care, supported my clinic, attended my classes, and sent such kind messages over the past few weeks. Your encouragement has meant more than you know. 🥹❤️
I’m looking forward to getting this hip sorted once and for all so I can come back stronger, pain-free, and ready to do what I love most.
The next chapter is rehabilitation… and, knowing me, I’ll probably share plenty of that journey with you too! 💪😊
See you all in the autumn.
With love and gratitude,
Joani ❤️

💙 Well… that’s a wrap for now. 💙
Today I walked into this venue for the last time until September. ❤️
Next Friday I’ll be having my right hip replaced, and then the next chapter begins… rehabilitation! 💪
It’s a little emotional stepping away from something that has been such a huge part of my life, but I know this surgery will help me come back stronger, healthier and ready to do what I love for many years to come.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to every single person who has supported my classes throughout this journey. Your kindness, patience, hugs, cards, messages and good wishes this week have meant more than you’ll ever know. 🥹❤️
This isn’t goodbye—just a little pause. 😊
I’ll be keeping you all updated on my recovery over the coming weeks, and if my last hip replacement is anything to go by, I’ll be working hard every single day to get back doing what I love!
I can’t wait to see you all again in the autumn. Until then… take care of yourselves, keep moving, keep smiling, and I’ll see you on the other side of a brand new hip! 🦴✨
With love,
Joani ❤️ xx
