I run well being workshops based on laughter yoga, laughter skills and gibberish improvisation games for corporate clients, charities and public and private events. I run 1-1 laughter therapy coaching sessions for those who feel inhibited and shy in front of a group, suffer of mild depression or simply need a bit of more individualised support in reconnecting with their spontaneous laughter and playful side. Laughter Yoga is a unique concept developed by Dr. Kataria, an Indian physician, in 1995. The first Laughter Club started with five people India and now there are more than 10.000 Laughter Clubs in 73 countries. Laughter has many benefits: it improves our mood in seconds making us feel more positive and sociable; brings oxygen to the brain increasing our energy levels and productivity; sends our body the message to release endorphins, the happy hormones while suppressing cortisol, the stress hormone and strengthen our immune system while lowering our stress levels. Such a pity that we laugh so little in our adult life and even when we do, our laughter is rarely long or deep enough to give us its full benefits. Here is where laughter yoga can come to the rescue! While the brain differentiate between real and fake laughter, the body cannot make a distinction. Because our body affects our mind (as well as the opposite), we can make our body laugh even when our mind does not feel like it. There are no jokes or humour in a laughter yoga session: we practice laughter as an exercise and combine it with deep breathing and final meditation and relaxation. Through real willingness to participate, eye contact, childlike playfulness, commitment to laugh for no reason and to let go of inhibitions we can find the real laughter within and really connect with our inner self and with others. Laughter Yoga is now worldwide recognised as a useful tool to relieve stress and improve physical and psychological well-being. Laughter workshops are also increasingly used in business to increase productivity and help team building ( companies as BBC and Google have organised workshops for their employees).
