Let's Go Outside & Learn

On 2 June, 20 colleagues from Haymarket Media Group swapped their desks for the riverbank, joining LGOAL for a guided walk along the River Crane, right on the doorstep of their office.

The session gave staff a chance to see a green space many hadn't fully explored, despite passing close to it every day. Along the route, the group learned about the volunteer effort that keeps this stretch of the Crane valley thriving as a habitat for local wildlife.

Fittingly, a thunderstorm broke partway through the walk. Rather than cutting the session short, it added to the sense of adventure, and by all accounts made for an even more memorable afternoon outdoors.

On our Women's walk today, we investigated the entrances, and redesigned them using different illustration techniques. Great work everyone and lovely to spend some mindful time in Your Avenue Park.

Our next Women's Walk will be on Saturday the 1st August at 10.30am, where we will be exploring the woodlands.

We had a lovely evening walk for our Summer Evening Women's Walk in Avenue Park yesterday! We had a look at the river Crane, shared some folklore to celebrate summer, had our picnic and made flower garlands together! The herbs will help protect us for the year ahead (and smell delicious)!

Our next Women's Walk is this Saturday 4th July at 10.30am -12pm, Avenue Park. Hope to see you there to keep celebrating Your Avenue Park!

Volunteers made the most of the cooler start to the week and worked hard digging out bramble, oak saplings and horseradish from under and around the big oak in Ham Lands

Evening Summer Women’s Walk

Bring your own picnic!

Join us for this special women's walk to celebrate the summer! We will explore and share stories of summer from all over the world on an evening walk and take part in a midsummer traditional craft. We'll then sit down for a picnic together. Please remember to bring your own picnic/food to eat.

Women's Walk - Walk gate to gate

Join us for this Women’s Walk to explore the Avenue Park entrances and learn a few illustration techniques at the same time! We will visit some of the park’s entrances on a gentle walk and try to create our own welcoming entrance! Does it make the park feel safe and inviting, a place to be creative and welcome? Please wear clothing suitable for outdoors, some of the paths may be uneven.

Some of the work produced by the pupils at Unique Academy this morning. The observational drawing was so inspiring to watch and the machine design ideas for moving logs was incredible. While the years 1&2 pupils enthusiastically joined in the story of The Hungry Caterpillar and made butterfly feeding stations.

Due to high forecasted temperatures this week we have made the decision to postpone our Evening Summer Women's Walk to a later date (TBC). Keep a lookout for a new date, once the weather has cooled.
