Today…. A mix of different emotions..
But still, I can still say God is Good.
Mum would have been 73 today… hits differently when you don’t get to make that phone call to say happy birthday, send that long birthday text, hear her say ‘esé, mo dúpé -thank you, I’m grateful) and then she tries to return the gift you’ve given her, ‘cos she thinks it’s too much…
The thing is… we were planning to celebrate and honour her on this day with a ‘This is your life evening’… showcasing her legacy, life’s work, her mothering, mentoring and the gift that she’s been…
We were also going to have moments of performing some of her mainstream songs…over the years..
I guess Heaven’s doing that much better for us all…
We’ll still do it..
But at this moment, it’s simply…
Happy Birthday Mum…
