Morning everyone. Thank you for a great park run, especially in such hot conditions 🥵🥵 results have been submitted but it appears the park run website is down temporarily. I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully won’t be long before the results are processed 🤞🤞
See you all next week!!

Good Afternoon Park Runners
As we head towards the weekend, just a gentle reminder despite repeated requests during the RD briefing on a weekly basis we are still experiencing funnel ducking behaviour by runners causing us to have to amend timings before publishing each week.

Funnel ducking is a head ache and whilst we can appreciate some do not want a logged time and either duck out the funnel and or subsequently refuse a token which then causes imbalances in other runners potential timings. If you don’t want a time logged this is ok however if you have passed the timer we would appreciate it if you could filter through and collect a token and drop it into the yellow bucket at the end. This way it keeps our timers and finish token numbers in alignment and stops any issues.

Please also only come through the finish funnel after completing two laps too as again we do get runners coming though having only completed one lap. Your co-operation on this will be very much appreciated. Be a good park runner and don’t be a funnel ducker!! 🏃🙌 temperature for Saturday is still very warm so keep hydrated and carry water where possible and see you on Saturday for a 9am start!!

Good Afternoon Park Runners
Hope you are all managing in the current heat out there, the forecast this Saturday is still super warm so if and where possible please bring some water with you to keep hydrated. We will ensure plenty is in supply pre and post park run as temperatures are expected to be approximately mid 20s at 9am.

Please take care out there and see you all for a 9am prompt start on Saturday. Please see link below from Doddington Hall parkrun for this weekend’s arrangements on how they are combating the heat 🤣😬 ⚽️ 🥵

With warm weather forecast for the weekend, we have taken the decision to introduce mandatory 3 minute hydration breaks, half way through the first half of the course, at halfway and half way through the second half of the course. Plus at the start and the end.

This is a mandatory addition, please stop for a full three minutes to hydrate at the start, at the first mandatory hydration location, at halfway, at the third mandatory hydration location (which is in the same location as the first mandatory hydration station, but is separate) and at the finish, prior to entering the finish funnel. We have additional marshals on hand at each mandatory hydration location to ensure all participants take the full mandatory 3 minutes.

Please ensure you bring your mandatory hydration and place your beverage receptacle in the mandatory hydration locations indicated in the diagram below.

All participants are responsible for their own litter, so please return to the mandatory hydration break locations after the event to collect your beverage receptacle.

Thank you in advance.

VOLUNTEER APPEAL - WANSTEAD FLATS PARKRUN

The roster for Saturday 4th April (and the remainder of April …) is looking a bit bare. At the moment, we have no Timekeeper, Funnel Manager, Marshals (x2), Post-Event Closedown (x2) and would like at least one more Barcode Scanner to avoid long queues.

If you can help the parkrun(s) to go ahead, please check the roster (link below) for the vacant slots, and send an email to [email protected] stating which volunteer role you can fill and please include your parkrun ID number, so that we can allocate the correct “Jan Brown” or “John Smith”.

Swampstead Flats!
A group of 60 of us left Bristol at 5:30 am this morning on a coach and a minibus, and 20 ran here and the others visited the mass love-in at Valentines.
After a wee and a tea break at South Mimms services, we all got to the start lines on time, even our coach driver.
Once Minaxi had done the first-timers briefing (8 first-ever parkrunners) and Paul, our RD for the day, welcomed us and explained what we needed to know, 223 of us set off for event 716. With today's event, Wanstead has just tipped over the 16,000 finishers mark.

First over the line was Aiden O'Driscoll only 9 seconds off his PB, second was Freddie Abrahams on his 21st run here and third was Alex McNulty who has done over half of his 81 runs at Wanstead. You know it is a tough course conditions when only 2 runners finish in under 20 mins.
First Female was experienced parkrunner Kasia Stachowiak who has over 250 finishes here. Second was first-time visitor Lindsey Kitching and third was Leona Sinclair who has ran all 15 of her parkruns in East London's best event!
Aiden an Freddie nabbed the highest age grades of the day with Mark Drake taking third spot with 69.15% on Valentine's Day!
The most runniest runners were all 500 shirt owners and they are Scott McMillan 628 runs, Paul Kaufman 554 and Alan Branch on 516. I sneaked in to 4th with 478 runs at 411 different locations.
Well done to Adrian Tooth for earning your 250 shirt and I hope it is on order already. You can order your milestone shirts ahead of completion by simply using someone else's ID number, it's so much nicer to have it on the day!
James Thomas bagged his 50th run whilst visiting from Wales, and Matthew Hinchcliffe claimed his purple 25 shirt and 24 of his runs have been here.

The course was a challenge with some large slippery areas of mud which felt tougher on the second lap. Just over ¼ of the finishers were first timers here (57) and 10 PBs were had.
21 volunteers ensured that this event went ahead today. There are so many roles you can do and still get a credit from Course Check, Event Set up & close down, Tail Walker, Park Walker (there was a very attractive one here today 🙂), First Timers welcome, Token Sorting, VI Guide, Barcode Scanning for the quicker runners and even writing the weekly report on the sofa with a cuppa and a packet of biscuits.

Our group headed to Spoons for breakfast before picking up the rest of our tourists from Valentines at 11:45 am. Some of them never managed to get breakfast in the local Spoons due to how busy it was!
We arrived back in Bristol, tired and muddy, just after 3:30 pm with our results in the bag and another successful Airey Airways trip.
