🎾 What can Wimbledon Champions teach us about post concussion recovery?
Probably more than you'd think!
Watching Wimbledon this year reminded me that the biggest wins come from patience, consistency and believing against the odds.
Whether it was Linda Nosková bouncing back from setbacks, Novak Djokovic's commitment to the long game, Jannik Sinner's consistency under pressure, or Arthur Fery's wildest of wildcards, there are some powerful recovery lessons:
🎾 Recovery isn't a straight line.
🎾 Small, consistent habits matter.
🎾 Progress happens over time.
🎾 Believe in what might seem impossible.
If you're navigating post concussion symptoms, I hope this gives you a little encouragement today.

How can people struggling with post concussion syndrome benefit from a Health Coaching approach? What does it mean, and what does it look like in practice?
It's not common in the UK (I may be the only one - correct me if I'm wrong!!) so I've written this short piece to help explain...
Navigating the many options and avenues available to support your post-concussion journey can feel overwhelming. This is especially true when your brain is struggling to function with even the familiar demands of everyday life. Advice abounds, and there is no shortage of information available online. However, finding your own path through it all is not easy.
Following my own concussion in 2023, I experienced first-hand how lonely and difficult it can be to identify and pursue different avenues of support, whilst avoiding endless rabbit holes and infuriating dead ends. What I felt I needed was someone who had been there and done it - someone who understood the different options available and could support me in finding my own way forward. I wanted confidence that I hadn't missed something important or was inadvertently hindering my progress. I needed an informed ally.
That experience led me to train as a UKIHCA Registered Health Coach.

When a Head Injury Changes Everything...
Concussion and mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) are often described as invisible injuries - but their impact can be life-changing.
Clare’s powerful recovery journey highlights the challenges of post-concussion syndrome and how the right support, understanding, and whole-person approach can make a real difference.
Clare’s journey through post-concussion syndrome recovery highlights how far the UK still has to go in recognising post-concussion symptoms and supporting effective concussion recovery.

Why and How Post-Concussion Recovery IS Possible - I had the great pleasure of meeting the fabulous team at Coulthursts - The Brain Injury Solicitors to share my talk on this topic, including the (somewhat cruel) Post Concussion Immersive Experience. The aim was to share some insights into post concussion syndrome and a few practical, everyday approaches to post concussion recovery. The team are unusual in that they already have a deep understanding of how this form of "mild" Traumatic Brain Injury can be 'missed' or dismissed at every turn, so it was great to be with people who are advocating on behalf of those who are going through post concussion symptoms. Thanks for all you do!

Post Concussion Symptoms are silent and invisible from the outside. They don't feel it though.
