FROM BB PLAYER TO QUALIFIED REFEREE ⚽👏
We’re incredibly proud to celebrate George and the next chapter of his football journey!
George joined the BB Soccer family as a player, but when he decided to hang up his boots at just 15, his involvement in football was only just beginning.
We encouraged George to stay involved with the club, initially helping with coaching and refereeing our younger age groups. It quickly became clear that refereeing could be a fantastic pathway for him, and with the support of BB Soccer, George went on to complete his official refereeing qualifications through Surrey FA, allowing him to referee older age groups and full 11-a-side matches.
Now George is heading to Bristol University to study English 🎓 — and he’s taking his refereeing career with him!
Showing some brilliant initiative, George contacted Gloucestershire FA himself to ask about refereeing opportunities in the area. They were delighted to hear from him and have already offered him matches shortly after he arrives. ⚽🙌
For us, this is what grassroots football is all about.
It isn't only about developing footballers. It's about giving young people opportunities, building their confidence and helping them discover ways to remain involved in the game long after they stop playing.
From BB player ➡️ BB referee ➡️ qualified referee ➡️ university & a new refereeing adventure.
