How is this over a week ago already?! Sharing a few miles with fellow Salomon Running ambassador Kirk Hardwick and both matching in the Genesis.
The 100 mile distance never gets any easier, I loved completing another loop, despite it not being the quite the time I was ultimately looking for. But that’s what I love about these long ultra races, you literally have no idea how they’re going to unfold in front of you. I’ve had some good ones and some bad ones, I think this was in the middle somewhere.
Everything seemed fine until I took a bad tumble before Buttermere. Hats off and thank you to Lowri Morgan for checking on me and notifying the checkpoint ahead that I’d need looking at. The medical team cleaned me up and applied dressings/bandages and off I went. I’d lost time being seen to at multiple checkpoints but somehow managed to make some up as the race progressed.
As always the Lakeland didn’t disappoint. I shared many miles with people I didn’t know, and came away feeling like they were good friends! There were ups and downs, my legs were pretty much done with 25 miles to go but there was always the need to get it done, get it done and see my family. The last three miles were over 20mins slower than last year as I just couldn’t get going, getting down to Coniston and seeing friends outside the pubs cheering spurred me on to the end.
Kev Perry played a big part in helping me to do this race back in 2018. Although he can’t run it anymore, it was great to see him at the end with friends and family. Thanks for the support as always everyone and to those who organise and marshal this madness! 🙏
Now we recover and work out what’s next 🤪

A few from around the Lakeland 100 course over the weekend (don’t scroll if you don’t like a little blood! 😬)
1 & 2 - Enjoying the course and ticking off the miles 📸 James Yeardley
3 - Start line excitement
4 & 5 - Took a fall at 25 miles which made the rest of the run quite painful!
6 - Headtorches on their way to Wasdale and over Black Sail Pass
7 - Sunrise over the Old Coach Road
8 - Early morning views over Ullswater
9 - George & Ottie being super supporters
10 - Classic yearly Ambleside selfie
11 - Made it back to Coniston to cheers in the marquee - 7th Lakeland 100. Done ✅
Just about recovered now about part from these cuts and grazes!

Lakeland 100 2026 - back for my 7th loop of this awesome race. 28:46 on the clock this year. The going got pretty tough after having a bad fall at 25 miles, but I was pleased to get it done and chalk off another Lakeland finish.
The support and organisation, as always, was awesome. Thanks for all of the messages. This event definitely stands out as being a special one and manages to keep me coming back for more! 😄

At 6pm I set off for my 7th loop of the Lakeland 100. The training is done, the kit is ready, I’m looking forward to seeing how this one goes. Number 818 if you fancy tracking along.

I love the mountains for an adventure, but some of the best runs are right on your doorstep.
Fitting in as much Lakeland training as possible around busy days and still getting it done.
The mix of rain and sunshine has made a few sections a little more “interesting” recently… daily nettle stings! 😂
