Any belly breathing exercise is wonderful to get fresh oxygen flowing through the body. It also helps to calm and quiet the mind. Using the image of a balloon make it more fun

Continuing with the theme of listening to your body and what it needs, the children were asked to create their own cool down. They were encouraged to do yoga poses that made them feel calm and relaxed. The poses that were chosen were
πŸ¦‹ Childs Pose
πŸ¦‹ Extended Child Pose
πŸ¦‹ Crocodile Pose
πŸ¦‹ Downward Dog
πŸ¦‹ Pigeon Pose
πŸ¦‹ Shoulder Stand
πŸ¦‹ Shoulder Stand Inversion

This exercise really got the children thinking about how they feel in each pose. We talked about how we can express the way we feel by doing yoga poses and change the way we feel by doing poses that make us feel differently. We talked about how it’s important to listen to our bodies and create poses and flows that are in harmony with how we feel

One of my most favourite things about my yoga classes is getting to know the children in my class. And this class was no exception. I adored the conversations we had in this class, I loved hearing about the ways the children express themselves in their own creative ways through gymnastics, cooking, dance. I loved hearing about what their passions are and seeing their faces light up when they talked about them. This class was very special to me πŸ’

This was a good reminder for me this week. Things don’t always go the way you planned or the way you hoped but unleashing the fire within will always make sure you survive πŸ”₯

World Book Day 2021

We decided to go on our very own bear hunt today. Getting into nature, exploring, getting messy, breathing in the gorgeous fresh air is what we do best.

And doing some yoga with that backdrop was just amazing!

My daughter even talked us through a mindful eating meditation with a coconut, I was very impressed πŸ₯°

It was so good to hear what means the most to the children in my online yoga class. Every single child said family, mum, dad or baby brother/sister πŸ’•πŸ’•

The children created their own β€˜Things I Love’ Salutation by naming what they love and their favourite pose, and putting them together

This is what they came up with πŸ’•πŸ’•

This was such a fun game to play. The children loved to tell all the other children what they love, and enjoyed seeing who agreed with their statement and who didn’t.

There were some statements that all the children agreed on like, β€œI love CHOCOLATE 🍫 πŸ˜œβ€

Thank you for a great idea

Hopscotch is a game that has passed the test of time. I remember playing at school as a child and I also now play with my children, usually outside on a chalk drawn board.

In our online yoga class, the children were encouraged to create their own hopscotch boards on paper before the class. Each child took turns playing the game by throwing a stone onto their board and jumping and hopping through the board to retrieve the stone. Once at the stone, the child did the pose that was called out by me and then made their way back to the beginning of the board.

We continued the theme of love in this weeks class. We talked about the people we love, the things we love and the activities we love to do.

We also discussed how we can show love and respect to those we love πŸ’•
