We are a London based Volleyball Club based in U.E.L
The word "Bangko" comes from the Tagalog language which is spoken in Philippines; and is Fillipino slang for "bench" or in more detail "to be benched" so the literal translation of Bangko Warriors in English would be "Bench" Warriors. The story behind the name of our volleyball club came about while playing in Filipino volleyball teams in the past, the founders of The Bangko Warriors saw themselve
s constantly battling for less skilled players and their basic rights. Players who were strung along into believing that by paying to attending training days and paying to enter and take part volleyball tournaments, that they would given them a chance to take part. The founders witnessed countless times that their co-players were spending large amounts of money to travel back and fourth across England, paying for food, accommodation and tournament entry fees only to find out they would only have the pleasure of sitting down and keeping a bench warm the for the whole weekend. All because the management at the time didn't inform them that they had every intention of outsourcing stronger players from else where; Instead of giving a chance to their loyal players and to allow them to use the techniques gained during their training and be able to apply it in a live atmosphere, giving them an opportunity to gain "real battle experience". And so the idea behind forming a team them came about...
A team that gives it's players who pay to train week in and week out, and are deemed ready, priority during tournaments over players who are just outsourced because they are stronger on-court,
The idea of a club that is open and transparent with its operations and reinvesting it's funds back into the club so that all it's members benefit. The idea of The Bangko Warriors came about in April 2015 and has been in development since the had it's official launch in 2016
