Nobody talks about how much is happening behind the scenes in those first 6 weeks postpartum.
Most mothers expect healing. Few realise they’re also navigating a hormonal reset, building a feeding system, healing a placental wound, rebalancing blood volume, and adapting neurologically to motherhood.
Your body isn’t doing one thing. It’s doing EVERYTHING.

💙 Happy Father’s Day 💙
Today we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, adoptive fathers, foster fathers, fathers-to-be, father figures and the men who show up every day with love, care and commitment.

We also hold space for those grieving a father, missing a father, navigating difficult relationships, experiencing loss, or longing to become fathers.

Fatherhood comes in many forms, and today we recognise the impact of the men helping to raise, support and nurture families and communities.

From all of us at The Motherhood Group, Happy Father’s Day.

Just as your baby is experiencing the world for the first time, you are experiencing parenthood for the first time too.

There is no manual, no perfect roadmap and no way to know everything in advance.

Give yourself the same patience, grace and compassion you so freely give your little one.

Be kind to yourself. 💗

Introducing the next group of incredible women joining The Motherhood Group’s Mums Advisory Board & Ambassadorship Programme!💕✨

We are so excited to welcome another cohort of passionate mothers who bring a wealth of lived experience, insight and expertise to this growing community.

Our Advisory Board Members and Ambassadors play an important role in helping to shape our work across maternal health, mental health, research, policy, training, campaigns and community engagement. Their voices help ensure that the realities and experiences of Black mothers remain at the centre of conversations, services and decision-making.

Throughout the programme, members will have opportunities to contribute to healthcare professional training, research projects, speaking engagements, events, media opportunities, consultations and advocacy work, helping us drive meaningful change for Black mothers and families.

We are incredibly grateful to each woman who has chosen to be part of this journey and look forward to the impact we will create together.

Please join us in celebrating and welcoming our newest Mums Advisory Board Members and Ambassadors. 🎉

Together, we are building a future where Black mothers are seen, heard, supported and valued.

Some comments may seem harmless, but for a mother experiencing postpartum depression, they can feel deeply invalidating.

Postpartum depression is not a lack of gratitude, a bad attitude, or simply being tired. It is a real mental health condition that affects many mothers, often in silence.

Let’s choose compassion over judgement, understanding over assumptions, and support over stigma.

You don’t have to go through this alone.

Introducing some of the incredible women who are part of The Motherhood Group’s Mums Advisory Board & Ambassadorship Programme 🎊🩷

This initiative brings together mothers with lived experience who are passionate about improving outcomes for Black mothers, babies and families. Through their voices, perspectives and expertise, they will help shape and strengthen our work across maternal health, mental health, research, policy, training and community engagement.

As part of the programme, members will contribute to healthcare professional training, research projects, speaking engagements, campaigns, events and policy discussions, helping to ensure that the experiences of Black mothers remain at the heart of decision-making.

Many of our members have already begun contributing to our work, sharing valuable insights, informing training and research, and helping us drive meaningful change across the maternal health landscape.

At The Motherhood Group, we believe lived experience is expertise. Real change happens when mothers are not only heard, but actively involved in shaping the services, systems and conversations that affect them.

Please join us in welcoming our Mums Advisory Board Members and Ambassadors.

Together, we are helping create a future where Black mothers and families are seen, heard and valued.

Burnout doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like:
showing up exhausted, forgetting simple things, feeling emotionally flat, or struggling to care the way you normally would.

So many mothers are carrying invisible mental loads while still trying to hold everything together.

You deserve support before burnout becomes your normal. 💗

“My daughter could have been here today.”
Helena shared her story at Black Maternal Health Conference.

“I remember getting a text saying there was protein in my urine.

But no one explained what protein in urine could mean.
No one explained preeclampsia.
No one explained the warning signs.
No one explained the risks.

“That was the learning moment that could have saved my daughter.”

Even if she never developed preeclampsia, she should have been told.
She should have been informed.
She should have been empowered.

“Aspirin could have saved my daughter.”

Preeclampsia is serious.
But awareness saves lives.
Education saves lives.
Listening to mothers saves lives.

At The Motherhood Group’s Black Maternal Health Conference, shared her story so that no other mother has to experience this preventable loss.

Because every mother deserves to be heard.
Every warning sign deserves to be explained.
And every baby deserves a chance.
