We are all familiar with those negative behaviours: not listening, hiting, melting down, back chat or disengagement.
It’s easy to label our kids and see them difficult or rude or dramatic.
But what’s really happening is that their nervous systems are in protection mode. Their internal guard dog is on alert (even if it’s because the carrots are the wrong shape or you said no to going out to see friends). Their bodies sense threat.
What we do or say in that moment with our kids can change everything.
The same is true for us as parents. The not listening or rudeness feels like a threat and we yell or threaten or shutdown to protect ourselves too.
I teach and support parents to show up differently. To understand what’s happening beneath the behaviour and manage their responses- getting everyone back to regulated and calm faster.
Don’t put up with managing these really hard situations and hoping things change. Book FREE discovery call TODAY. Click link in bio to get the home life you so desperately want.

Certified Parent Coach, Trustee of a Children’s Charity, a Volunteer Counsellor and Mum.
After over a decade working for investment banks in the City, I came to this work through my own experience as a working parent. I was fascinated by neuroscience and committed to showing up for my children in the best way possible...But quickly discovered that wanting to parent differently and actually doing it are two very different things! That gap, between intention and action, is exactly what
Noticing what our kids do wrong or the things they haven’t done yet is soooo normal!
What if we try instead to notice all the things they do which we just expect them to? Like clearing their plates, hanging up their coat, flushing the toilet, playing quietly…. Our kids desperately want our attention. If we give it to them for the good stuff, however small, they will want to do more of it… and not go looking for our attention in other negative ways! ❤️

Asking for help isn’t weakness!
On the back of a traumatic experience in June which left me with a fear of heights, I took on a challenge this week to climb a mountain in the Dolomites Italy for charity GIFT.
I dug deep, with trembling legs and sweaty hands I decided to give it a go. As soon as the cliff ledges got shorter and sheer drops got higher I felt a visceral wave of panic coming. Everything in me said STOP!
I had the option to turn back, but instead I asked a friend to hold my hand for the most scary bit and It made the world of difference.
She held my hand tightly, spoke calmly with me and made me feel supported and not alone. It was EVERYTHING. She did what I teach parents to do with their children having a hard time: she Co-regulated; validated my emotions and used her calm to get me through my wave of fear.
If I hadn’t asked her to hold my hand, I possibly would not have made it. Or, I would have done it with nothing left in my tank to enjoy the views that came next.
The other hikers seemed to be managing, but asking for help in that moment was not weak. It was WISE.
Because I let go of “SHOULD”, I asked for help and managed to do what my body and mind told me was impossible.
I got through it quicker, easier, felt supported and the oxytocin of having someone by my side during a tough thing was amazing.
I help parents in the same way - it’s more than okay to ask for help from a Parent Coach. It’s wise.
I help you to find a way to navigate parenting challenges and still enjoy the experience instead of muddling through, reacting, running on stress and becoming hot mess filled with guilt and shame in the process.

The beautiful testimonials and feedback I get from the parents I work with reaffirm why I took the jump from a long standing career in investment banking (all those years ago) to retrain in neuroscience and become a certified Parent Coach.
It is a blessing and an honour to be part of their parenting journey and to make a real difference to them and their children.

In a hot moment we can so easily land up repeating patterns (probably the one liners that we heard as kids!).
But these habits end up creating disconnection and even more stress, for us and our kids.
Switching up how we ask for something, or responding with a little more validation can TRANSFORM the moment, maintain connection and enable you to have the wherewithal to hold the boundary without losing it! Give it a try and let me know ❤️ boundary without losing it! Give it a try and let me know ❤️

Parents of Teen and Tween boys....Does this sound familiar?
He used to tell you everything. Now you get a grunt, a shrug, or a closed door — and you're left wondering what happened to the boy you knew. 💔
Here's something that helped me reframe this stage, and that I share often with the parents I coach: your teenage son isn't pulling away because he stopped needing you. His behaviour is asking a question he can't put into words — "Are you still safe for me? Can you still handle me through this change? Can I be vulnerable and still be enough?"
Boys especially communicate through actions, not conversation. So instead of sitting him down for "a talk," try:
🚗 Being the taxi service (car rides = surprisingly good for conversation)
🍕 A 1:1 pizza outing, no agenda
🛋️ Just sitting next to him while he does his thing
And when he does open up — listen without judging or jumping to fix it. That's how trust rebuilds.
He still needs you to be the parent, not the friend, even when he protests the boundaries. Yet holding those boundaries with firm, warm consistency is what makes him feel safe, even if he'd never admit it. 🤍
Tell me — what's worked for you and your teen? I'd love to hear in the comments. 👇
