Choose different… or choose to stay the same.
Most people want to feel different.
More confident in their clothes.
Genuinely happy in photos.
Strong enough to try things they’ve been avoiding.
Fit enough to keep up with their life - not feel held back by it.
But wanting it isn’t the problem.
Choosing it is.
Because choosing different means going against the version of you
that’s been running the show for years.
The one that stays comfortable.
That delays.
That says “I’ll start next week”
or “now’s not the right time…”
So nothing changes.
Same habits.
Same patterns.
Same frustrations.
Break the pattern today.
Or you’ll be right back here in a few months,
wishing you started now.

Apparently being skinny is in fashion again
….just in time for summer… how fabulous !!!
lucky us
lettuce for lunch it is.
Time to bore myself for hours on a cardio machine….
lol JK!!
Find me trying to get a 150kg deadlift x
When are we gonna stop treating our bodies like a trend?
On: setting your own standards, rather than subscribing to the Instagram and fitness influencer narrative that your life should wholly revolve around fitness and training…
I’ve got my first ever Hyrox Singles race tomorrow at London Olympia…
Am I feeling 100% prepared for it? No
Am I going to have a perfect race and a perfect time on that famous screen on the end? No
Does it matter? No!!!!
I hear this from people and clients ALL THE TIME…
There’s no way I can sign up for X - I’m not fit enough
I can’t try that kind of workout - I’m not strong enough
I can’t wear shorts - I’m not skinny/lean enough…
I can’t do X because of Y *insert imperfect conditions*
But that’s what is keeping us stuck! Worrying about not fitting this fake made up standard that we set for ourselves… thinking that everyone is watching us, waiting for our downfall
It’s part of human survival psychology that we’ve not evolved out of
But it doesn’t serve us
And it stops us from just doing the thing
So here’s to doing things, setting YOUR OWN standard… testing your own baselines under imperfect conditions… and not feeling guilty for having A LIFE
imo - training and challenges should fit AROUND your life
- NOT your life fitting around your training
and I think if we could be a bit more compassionate to ourselves about that, then fitness would feel less like a chore (as I know it does for some many) and be able to become something we enjoy and embrace :)

I LOVE meme carousels so thought I’d share my own….
Doing things by halves will cost you your joy, your health, and your fulfilment in life…
Nearly every client that comes to me has “tried the gym before” or “tried to….” (fill the blank with: lose weight, get fit, become more confident…)
Nearly every friend has had a business idea or dream or hobby they wanted to pursue… but many don’t actually even try
It’s interesting to look at, reflect on and try to understand the psychology of why we often have big hopes and dream, but often don’t end up attempting to achieve them, let alone actually realising them 🤔
I think if mores people reflected on this, and understood that it is our fear of being PERCEIVED by others is what often blocks us from taking action and “doing the thing”, we would probably stop labelling ourselves as “broken”, “lazy”, etc etc
… and then maybe actually see that there IS a path forward to change
The biggest block will always be your own mind
In ANYTHING
Fitness, career, moving country, doing anything that is outside of the ordinary
Do you care about the things that actually matter?
Or the things that you’ve been told to matter?

Have you ever actually sat in your emotions…
felt them fully…
and even celebrated them – instead of running from them?
I encourage my clients to slowly become comfortable exposing and confronting emotions and patterns. But we rarely talk about what that actually looks like.
Because emotional processing and expression looks different for everyone.
Some clients journal.
Some scribble nonsense on a page.
Some shake or dance to music.
Some voice note their thoughts and never listen back.
It might sound strange.
But from research and lived experience, years of coaching and countless conversations with clients where extremely vulnerable things get shared in sessions – and through my own journey – I’ve learned something important:
Unprocessed emotions and dysregulated responses are often what drive behaviours that are unhelpful for our health, wellbeing and fitness.
When emotions stay buried, they tend to show up somewhere else.
Overeating.
Neglecting our bodies.
Poor habits.
Burnout.
Avoidance.
I understand this might seem like a vulnerable overshare.
But actually it isn’t.
This is the reality of what a lot of people go through – they just let it bubble away inside, never naming their feelings or giving themselves permission to crumble.
Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been on a bit of a wild ride this past year.
But not many people know that I’ve really got into reading poetry as a form of self-expression.
(inner geek is geeking x)
This one is actually from the archives – something I wrote towards the end of last year while reflecting on the year I’d had in 2025.
You might read this and think:
“That’s not a poem.”
And honestly… that’s fine.
Just read the last line 🤗
If you made it this far, I hope something in it was helpful!
🙂
