Still buzzing from the most perfect weekend! 🄰 Feeling thoroughly spoilt! Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday, appreciated all your messages!

And especially to Sean Murphy who knocked it out the park for my birthday surprise! All my fave things…..the beach, amazing food, adventure (snowboarding was EPIC!) and of course my two besties, Champagne and Tequila! šŸ˜‰šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ„‚

Before you decide your hormones are broken, your metabolism has given up and you need another supplement, or try the weight loss jabs….

Are you actually nailing the basics? šŸ‘€

Are you moving enough?
Getting your steps in?
Tracking your food accurately?
Hitting your protein and fibre?
Strength training consistently?
Getting enough sleep?

Because if the answer is no, THAT is where your attention needs to go first. Not another fad.
Not another supplement. Not another quick fix you saw on Instagram.

And yes, things can feel harder in your 40s. Your body changes, your hormones are at play and life is probably a f**k tonne busier than it was at 25. But the fundamentals of fat loss haven’t suddenly stopped working.
You just need to get more dialled in with your targets, your structure and your consistency. Do the basics. Do them really f**king well. Then worry about the extras.

And if you’re doing all of this and STILL not seeing results, DM me ā€œCBCā€ and let’s have a look at what’s actually going on. ā¤ļø

Another lap around the sun ā˜€ļø 43 and beyond grateful. Not because I’ve got everything figured out. Absolutely not. šŸ˜‚ But because I’m truly grateful for the opportunities, the experiences, the people and the life I’ve had so far.

In the last 10 years, I’ve got divorced, relocated cities three times, moved house six times, walked away from a 15-year career to build a business, gone through a pandemic (okay fine, we all did that one šŸ˜‚), got things spectacularly wrong and got other things very right. I’ve loved hard. Lost people. Found myself again. Built myself back up from nothing. Been completely and utterly skint. Taken risks I had absolutely no idea would pay off. Jumped out of a plane. Got tattooed multiple times. Drunk alllllll the champagne. Lifted some heavy s**t. Laughed until I’ve cried and cried until I didn’t think I had anything left.

And somehow, amongst all of that, I’ve realised that getting older isn’t something I need to fight. It’s something I want to be bloody grateful for. Because I don’t want to go backwards. I like this version of me and I didn’t always like who looked back at me.

So here’s to forty f**king three!
More adventures. More spicy margs. More ridiculous laughter. More saying yes to things that scare me. More doing things simply because they make me happy. More memories. More living. And if this is what getting older looks like, I’m VERY f**king here for it. Level 43, let’s go!

Honestly the peer pressure to eat protein in your 40s is WILD šŸ˜‚

Have you had enough protein? How much protein is in that? Could you add some protein? Have you hit your protein target? NO I HAVEN’T SUSAN LEAVE ME ALONE šŸ˜‚

But annoyingly… Susan’s right. (Who’s Susan!?🤪)

Protein IS important. And arguably becomes even more important as we get older because we naturally become more resistant to the muscle-building effects of protein.

So if we want to maintain muscle. Build strength. Recover well from training. Stay fuller AND support our body composition as we age…we need enough of it.

BUT.

Protein is not the main character. Carbs matter too.
They’re our body’s preferred fuel for higher intensity exercise and strength training. They help replenish muscle glycogen and support performance and recovery.
And they keep us satisfied. Carbs are life!

And fats matter. We need them for cell function. Hormone production. And to absorb vitamins A, D, E and K.

And FIBRE fibre forget her.
Something I probably bang on about just as much as protein. Gut health. Digestion. Blood sugar regulation. Cholesterol. Satiety. It matters.

So yes. I absolutely want women eating enough protein.
But I don’t want you so obsessed with hitting 150g of protein that the rest of your diet looks like beige protein products and a protein yoghurt šŸ˜‚
Protein. Carbs. Fats. Colour and Fun…..the Fab 5!

But now go eat your f**king protein šŸ˜‚

There really is no secret to staying in shape in your 40s.
Soz šŸ˜‰

I eat well, but I also eat for FUN. (Hello Spicy Margs) I lift weights. I walk loads. I understand calories because I’ve spent years learning about them. But I’m definitely not perfect šŸ˜‚ I miss workouts. I have weekends where I eat and drink more. I have weeks where life just gets in the bloody way. The difference is I don’t let that become my narrative. I don’t tell myself I’ve f**ked it, I’m off track or I’ll start again Monday. I just crack on.

You don’t need more rules in your 40s. You need to get really f**king good at the basics.

Save this one for later ā¤ļø

And if you’re ready to stop overcomplicating it and actually get YOUR game plan in place, DM me ā€œFAB 5ā€ and let’s chat.

If there is one transformation in The Self Love Revolution who gets mentioned to me time and time again, it’s Alex’s.

Alex turns 50 next week, and after 18 months of coaching, she is nearly 15kg down, strong, toned, smashing PBs and feeling better physically, mentally and emotionally than she has in years.

But the thing I find most inspiring about Alex isn’t actually the 15kg loss. It’s how she got here. In 18 months, she has NEVER missed a check-in. She has NEVET missed a workout. Not because she wakes up motivated every single day. But because somewhere along the way, prioritising herself stopped being something she tried to do and became part of who she is. And you can see the impact of that everywhere.

Her energy and vitality are through the roof.
She’s stronger than ever. She’s constantly hitting new PBs. She absolutely OWNED our confidence photoshoot last year. And most importantly, she feels bloody amazing.

When Alex first came to me, she just wanted to lose 5kg. She’d reached that point so many women reach where you feel stuck. You’ve tried things before. You’re not sure what else to do. And putting your trust in another process can feel scary when you don’t know whether it’s going to work. But she trusted me from day one. She stayed open-minded. She listened. She learned. She implemented. And she kept showing up.
5kg became 10kg. 10kg became 15kg.
And somewhere in amongst all of that, this stopped being about simply losing weight and became about what happens when a woman genuinely starts investing in herself. That’s why Alex’s transformation inspires so many women.

You can head into 50 fitter, stronger, more confident, more energetic and more capable than you were years ago. And Alex, I hope you know what an absolute inspiration you are to me, to our team and to SO many women who follow your journey. Happy almost 50th, you absolute powerhouse. ā¤ļø
