Ramus Anatomic Plate (RAP)

We're proud to showcase the Ramus Anatomic Plate (RAP)—a novel implant developed for the treatment of caudal mandibular fractures in cats, and now also successfully used in selected small-breed dogs. The RAP system has also received a new anodised finish, giving it a refreshed appearance while maintaining the same proven design.

Developed through detailed CT analysis of feline mandibular anatomy and manufactured using 3D-printed Ti6Al4V titanium, RAP represents a significant advancement in maxillofacial fracture management.

Clinical Results

In a published case series of 13 feline patients, the RAP system demonstrated excellent clinical outcomes:

-Anatomical fracture reduction achieved in every case

-Voluntary food intake resumed as early as 1 day post-operatively

-Complete osseous union confirmed in all cases at 8 weeks

-No implant failure, disruption, or screw loosening reported

By providing stable anatomical fixation, RAP enables an earlier return to function compared with traditional management techniques, helping patients recover more comfortably and efficiently.

Designed through anatomical research, refined through engineering, and supported by clinical evidence, the RAP system continues to advance the management of these challenging injuries.

DBM putty is an exclusive, processed, bone allograft formulated into a putty like texture.

DBM putty contains DBM allograft bone, and a nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite, in a natural carrier. Ramus Anatomic Plate (RAP) System

The Ramus Anatomic Plate (RAP) system was developed using detailed CT analysis of feline mandibles, resulting in six anatomically contoured compression plates designed to accommodate the variation in caudal mandibular anatomy.

✅Clinical Outcomes

A case series of 13 cats with caudal mandibular fractures treated using the RAP system demonstrated consistently favourable outcomes:

-Accurate anatomical reduction achieved in all cases

-Restoration of functional, atraumatic occlusion

-No intraoperative complications reported

-Stable fixation confirmed on radiographic follow-up (minimum 8 weeks)

-No implant failure or screw loosening

-Complete osseous union in every patient

✅Early Return to Function

One of the key advantages of the RAP system is the rapid return to normal function.

Voluntary food intake resumed as early as 1 day post-operatively

Many patients were eating shortly after surgery

Rigid fixation allows an earlier return to normal feeding compared with traditional techniques

✅Low Complication Rate

Postoperative complications were uncommon and generally minor:

-Localised swelling was the most frequently reported finding

-Isolated cases of transient exophthalmos and minor wound complications resolved with appropriate treatment

✅A Modern Approach to Feline Mandibular Fractures

Traditional management of caudal mandibular fractures often relies on prolonged dental bonding and fixation, preventing cats from eating solid food for several weeks. In contrast, the RAP system provides stable rigid fixation, allowing patients to regain function much sooner while maintaining excellent clinical and radiographic outcomes.

Overall, the RAP system offers a reliable, anatomically designed solution for the management of these challenging fractures, combining low complication rates with predictable fracture healing and early return to normal function.

Support Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Support Technician to join our team. This is a varied hands-on role supporting our logistics, and training operations. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring stock, equipment, and customer orders are processed efficiently while helping maintain our loan kit and support our external training and courses.

A veterinary background would be advantageous, but not essential, as the role involves supporting the veterinary industry and handling veterinary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Order Fulfilment & Logistics
▪️Pick, pack, and dispatch customer orders.
▪️Scan and process orders for shipment.
▪️Support order management through our database system.
▪️Assist with orders received outside of the website platform.

Stock Management
▪️Accept and organise new stock shipments
▪️Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels
▪️Keep stock room clean, tidy and efficiently ran

Loan Kit Management
▪️Clean, maintain, and prepare loan kits for customer use.
▪️Ensure all kits are complete, functional, and ready for dispatch.

Training & Course Support
▪️Assist with the preparation of training courses
▪️Assist in ensuring equipment is organised
▪️Assist in pre-course printing materials
▪️Help clean and re-organise after courses
▪️Support with setting up and closing down of courses (may be outside of the 9-5pm office hours)

Conferences
▪️Assist with the preparation for conferences.
▪️Assist in checking the stand is ready for shipping or travel
▪️Assist in pre-conference printing materials
▪️Assist in packing and organising for course dry-labs

About You
▪️Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
▪️Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks.
▪️Strong teamwork and communication skills.
▪️Practical, hands-on approach to work.
▪️Experience in order fulfilment, stock control, or logistics is desirable.
▪️Veterinary industry experience or a veterinary background would be an advantage.

A great informative post from Alasdair Renwick in Australia.

Alasdair notes that compared with the UK and other regions, spaniel breeds—which are classically predisposed to humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF)—are less common in Australia. As a result, clinicians may encounter HIF less frequently, making it less likely to be included in the initial differential diagnosis, particularly in non-spaniel breeds.

Alasdair notes 'In Australia we have less spaniel breeds than some other locations, therefore sometimes we overlook the possibility of a humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF) as a cause of lameness.'

This HIF presentation was in a 5-year-old, 40 kg German Shepherd.

Following 4 months of persistent forelimb lameness and unsuccessful treatment for presumed shoulder disease, CT identified a large humeral intracondylar fissure (HIF).

Stabilisation was achieved using a large HISS implant combined with an ulnar osteotomy. At 8 weeks post-operatively, osteotomy healing was progressing well and lameness had almost completely resolved.

➡️ Plate profile based on CT analysis of 32 cats so that plate require no or minimal contouring.

➡️Pre-contoured plate profile facilitates accurate fracture reduction resulting in the re-establishment of normal occlusion and jaw function.

➡️Screw holes positioned to maximise the use of the best bone purchase at the leading edge of the ramus and the ventral cortex of the body of the mandible.

➡️Low profile 1.5mm Ti6Al4V Alloy screws used to avoid soft tissue impingement
