So today I got back in the saddle for the first time in a good few years and I had the BEST time! The gorgeous Casper(big chunky Clydie cross) was my horse for the ride and he and the lovely ladies from Crowwood Riding School looked after me perfectly 😊

I was a little apprehensive on the drive over but from the moment I got out the car they went out of their way to put me at ease. I got to help bring the horses in (where Casper weighed me up by testing to see how I'd react to him not wanting to walk up the field πŸ˜…), groom and tack up with them before we headed out for a wonderful 2 and a bit hour ride around the beautiful Scottish countryside.

They let me find my feet, or should that be seat? With a nice steady trundle before having our first trot (which was a bit wobbly to start with but once my hips adjusted we were all good). Up and down hills, admiring the views and varied greenery and birds. Handled a small spook just fine, dodging overgrown bushes, climbed up a big bank through bushes and trees which Casper took in his stride half trotting half cantering and even had a proper blast of canter up another hill.

About half way round I got brave enough to get my phone out whilst moving so got a couple videos in walk and by the time we were heading back I felt like I'd never been away from it.

I've not stopped grinning and can't wait for my next ride (a bit closer to home) in just over a week 😁

There's life in the old horse gal yet!

Great day yesterday at the first Southern Championships
Signed up to compete in the u90 class and weighed in at 89.3kg (lightest I've been in about 3 years) but was the only u90 so jumped in with the Opens ladies and had a great time.

Log being a little heavier than planned, combined with a cut and shaky nerves legs was the only disappointment of the day. Last.

Took the out right win on deads to redeem myself
2x120, 2x135 and 6x150kg

Joint first on the yoke into husabag

3rd on the car flip (yes I got to flip a car!!!) No video sadly unless someone else got anything? As Jake was both shouting at me and had jumped in to crew.

Joint 1st on the stones too with reps on 100kg, did give the 120kg a go but knee said nope as it came off the floor.

Got the u90 title by default, 1st masters open and finished 2nd in open women's over all.

Had a blast competing with the ladies, well run fun comp by the guys at The Barbell Division can't wait for the finals in November to get to compete with other u90s ladies and by then I'll be able to feel into comp better too!

Big thank you to the organisers and helpers.

To my big hearted boyfriend for not only being my biggest supporter, but also helping and supporting multiple others and jumping in to crew! Love you babe πŸ’œ

To my coach Richard Molnar for always being willing to support my crazy ideas (I promise no more comps for at least the next 3/4 months πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

And to my home gym empire / Emp1re for giving me somewhere great to train!

Now it's time for my first off season in 5 years πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…
