Thank you for indulging me this evening 🙏🏻

Looking through my old playlists from years ago over the last few days has brought so many happy memories back to mind…..

🎪 Saturday nights at Indibob’s Pavillion in Brigg

🐴 Line dance nights at The Shires - the first place I ever saw a young Richard Palmer perform

🏝️ Line dance weekends in Skegness - learning the valuable of lesson of booking early to get a caravan with central heating. We’ve never been so cold🥶

📖 No YouTube or social media pages to follow for new dance inspo. Instead, we relied upon a subscription to Line Dancer Magazine, and flicked straight to the new dance scripts at the back as soon as it dropped through the door

💿 Making up my own CDs to hand out to dancers so they could practice at home

🎂 Celebrating both my 30th and 40th birthdays with my dance family. You’ve got 3 years to plan the next big one 😜

😷 COVID - putting the phone down from John that Sunday night, having agreed we’d cancel classes and fearing we’d never get you all back. Little did I know, my phone would blow up every time Boris made an announcement ….does this mean there’s a class this week? Does this mean we’re starting back? We don’t care what it takes, please can we start back!

I should’ve known it’d take more than a piffling virus to keep a line dancer away!

🫶🏼 And not forgetting a few good friends we’ve lost along the way and still miss

God love ChatGPT for thinking a cartoon version of me would look like that. If only!

It’s Forgotten Favourites night this week and I really have been dusting off the old dance scripts 🧹

I’ll be walking them through, but I’m hoping muscle memory kicks in 😂

We’ve a Paul Bailey number, we’re going to Mexico briefly, boarding a train AND a boat…just a few clues there 🤔

And I’ll bring some booze. Let’s start the new school term in style 🪩

The ‘ber’ months are nearly upon us. Can you even believe it? 🍂

Here’s our class schedule for September, including our live music social with THE sensational Nikki Jo Brown performing for us 🎤 🪩

Bank Holiday Sunday

I volunteered to cook a family roast round at Mum’s …. so it makes sense while the beef is roasting to plan Tuesday’s Forgotten Favouroures playlist 🤠

Once this cocktail hits, anything could happen 🍹

What do we think oldie number one might be?!

With the news coming through as we took to the dance floor last night, there were two last minute Dolly additions to the playlist; Islands in the Stream and Silver Threads.

What a loss for the country music world, and our world in general. A woman with an immense talent, an indomitable spirit and a generous heart.

There will never be anyone else quite like Dolly Parton 🕊️

Wishing my dance family a fabulous weekend!

From a very windswept, wet and cold Whitby 🥶 💨

Here’s to the weather hopefully improving tomorrow 🤞🏼

Lovely Improver class this evening and you worked as hard as you always do 👏🏻

Last night, a dance popped up in my insta feed from 2024. I’ve seen it being danced at socials and thought,

“I’m teaching that this week”

I’m not sure how it slipped through the net originally, but I’m really happy to be adding it to our class list…

Hold Me NOW
A 32 count, 4 wall improver with 2 simple restarts to SUCH a catchy track. You can blame me when you’re humming it in the morning 🙃

You deserve medals! 🏅

Thank you so much for turning out on a different night AND a hot one at that 🔥

Kiss My Glass was tonight’s new one. Uptempo and good fun. I think we’ll really enjoy it after a few more runs through to music 🍑

When I first started line dancing 20ish years ago, Darren Busby’s was one of the first names I heard.
Even as a newcomer to the live music scene, it was evident how popular he was.

Few performers are held in such high regard. It was never more evident than last year, when the country music and line dance scene wrapped its arms around Darren and his family during their time of need.

Which is how it came to be that the Darren Busby Duo took to our stage earlier this year . He felt he “owed us one” even though he really didn’t. But seeing as though he insisted, who were we to argue?!

It transpires that it was one of Darren’s final performances before his newly announced retirement from the stage.

Whilst I’m certain it’s bitter sweet, his legacy will be rivalled by very few.

I’d like to thank Darren for his years of dedication to the British country music scene. For his good humour, his terrible jokes and his determination to deliver a great show. And for finally giving in and chucking some line dance numbers into his set, too 😉

I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing him a healthy and happy retirement, thoroughly deserved 🤠
