Knottingley 2nds gritted their way to fantastic win in a closely fought game against Nostell 2nds
The game started in usual fashion with Glover losing the toss and Knottingley being put into bat.
Matthew Stones and stand in opener for today Glover would open the batting, however things didn't go to plan as Glover was early on his shot and was caught early doors. Nick Padgett came in and hit a big 6 and a couple 4's before he went. Then Colby Larrington did the same hitting a beautiful 6 over covers and a couple of 4's then he went. This bought Jack Stones to the crease, getting to bat with his dad for the first time, however this fairytale didn't last long as Jack got a first ball LBW. Alex Frew hit a couple of 4's before he went as did Craig Larrington. Matthew Stones however was still there standing being the glue of the innings and he bought up his 50 before eventually departing for brilliantly made 61 giving Knottingley a great platform. The tail end got some vital runs taking Knottingley upto 155 and maximum batting points and a total to bowl at.
Pick of the batters Matthew Stones 61
The 2nd innings started with Ryan Carlton and Craig Larrington with the new ball and they bowled a disciplined line and both found edges early on, add to that a couple of missed run outs. Knottingley were wondering how they hadn't broken this opening partnership up. Craig Larrington in his 10th and final over finally made the breakthrough getting a much deserved wicket and breaking up a 78 opening stand. Craig finishing with 10 overs 1 wicket for 31 runs.
Glover had bought himself into the attack and his first 2 overs didn't go to plan going for 16 runs. But then Glover found his rhythm and got his first wicket, Nostell's skipper and opener bowling him round his legs. Glover's next 8 overs would go for just 15 runs picking up 4 wickets in a fine display of swing bowling. 3 of them bowled the other a fine sliding catch by sir Les Padgett and Backed up by Matthew Stones at the other end who picked up a wicket also, the pair had put Knottingley firmly back on top. With Glover now bowled out finishing with figures of 4 wickets for 31 runs, he turned back to Ryan Carlton who finally got his first wicket the ball crashing into the stumps, which was fully deserved after his brilliant opening spell. Ryan would pick up another wicket bowled and a 3rd a fantastic sliding catch at gully by young Colby Larrington. Leaving Nostell 140 for 9 going into the final over.
Matthew Stones with the ball in his hands saw Knottingley home his first 5 deliveries only going for 4 runs before Nostell hit a 4 off the final ball but by then it was too late and victory was claimed by Knottingley in a tight battle from start to finish winning by 7 runs.
Pick of the bowlers
Anthony Glover 10 overs 4 wickets for 31 runs.
Ryan Carlton 10 overs 3 wickets for 40 runs.
A perfect way for the 2nds to sign off the season at banks garth. With 1 game left to play Knottingley 2nds head to Old Sharlston on the final day looking to finish the season in style.

A trip to WF4 to take on fellow strugglers Nostell St Oswald CC.
Winning the toss and electing to bat on what was described as “grassy but a rock hard deck” from young Logan Dickinson.
New opening pair Roshan De Zoysa and Pubudu Dasanayaka strode out, with Nostell very own Gary Neville setting a defensive field to De Zoysa.
Wickets fell at regular intervals but one man stood tall as Pubudu reached his 1st 50 back in Maroon, backed brilliantly by Brad Davis 37 and Logan Dickinson 20 as we set 195 off 46 overs.
The Nostell chase got off to a quick start as Dan went for 11 off his 1st over. Dipu struck 3 early wickets as Nostell slipped to 40-3.
A stable middle order backed the Nostell wall in Ali Martin as the chase looked to go down to the wire. 3 quick wickets from Koki and 2 from Roshan brought the Maroons back into contention.
Dipu came back into the attack to clean up, finishing with 4-56 off 11.2 saw Knottla pick up their 4th win of the season bringing 16 points back to banks Garth.
