Windy conditions and large swells don't just happen at sea!

During this visitor season, our Ranger Boat Team have had to help many recreational water users back to shore because they have underestimated that conditions on lochs can change very quickly – and large swells can develop when wind directions change.

Remember:

Always wear a buoyancy aid as best practice. On Loch Lomond byelaws are in place which state that anyone under 16 must be wearing a buoyance aid, and for over 16’s you must have a buoyancy aid on board a vessel🛟

We strongly recommend you wear a wetsuit to keep you warmer and more buoyant 🏄

Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back 📍

Check weather conditions before heading out and know that conditions can change quickly 🌪️
