Our first competitive match as a team ⚽️

Saturday brings Barham AFC first competitive game in the cup against afc cottingham, our second fixture against these as we look to put some wrongs right after a defeat in pre season.

AFC Cottingham are not be looked over with max Robinson at the helm, a man that’s bedded into the grassroots football in hull so I’m sure a few pre season signings will have bolstered his team.

As a whole it’s a step up in class for Barham as we start in div 5 and cottingham who are in div 5.

It will be a good bar setter for the season for the Barham lads with 18 commited players now signed on the manger has high hopes.

Progress!

After a long pre season and truthfully poor numbers at training it’s a breath of fresh air for it finally to click with 15 at training with other team members letting us know they wasn’t available for tonight.

For many many weeks now we have been nervous with players not committing and them just wanting to play in the summer months.

It’s hard to entice players or get them intrested when 6 people are turning up, some weeks you could have questioned if we had enough for the season, with some sleepless nights we have finally clicked.

We started this team with nothing more than an idea on a piece of paper, numerous people devoted there commitment and numerous people were just full of 💩

A break this weekend for the lads before the our first fixture on the 5th September🔵🟡

Running a football team isn’t easy at the best of times, starting a football team when there is 10+ new teams is even harder,

Though trials and tribulations we have grown from an idea in a brain into a fully functioning men’s 11 a side time.

Pre season overview.

Brilliant day down at RWB playing fields for the AFC north family fund day in our last outing for the pre season.

As a whole the pre season has been an eye opener, with positives and some negatives.

Our first 2 outings against Wareham Forrest and Easington United were full of controversy with playing missing and an abandoned match which you could have argued could have been avoided,

2 fixtures against AFC Cottingham and Hunmanby FC without a keeper cost us,

AFC Hull on a different day could have been a different result but again nothing more but minutes on legs.

As a whole the manager Jack Harman has tried to give as much game time as possible to some new lads on which haven’t played for many years, we’ve had commitment issues which has resulted in a massive squad reduced to a squad of 15, every single game pre season we have been in. As a new team we always thought we would be ‘dicked’ or walked over but that’s not been the case.

The division 5 this year is new truck with 10+ new teams which is never an easy slog,

High hopes for this season but the main thing is people are enjoying there football,

Brilliant pre season for Nick Harman secures captaincy for the year.
