Match Report

It was an early one for the lads today as we headed away to face a strong Thorngumbald side.

We started on fire, playing some fantastic football from the first whistle. For the opening 20 minutes, the opposition could barely get a touch of the ball, and our pressure finally paid off when new boy Sam made a brilliant run and finished superbly to put us 1-0 up 🔥🔥

We couldn’t have asked for a better start, but unfortunately after taking the lead we switched off and allowed the opposition back into the game. Two goals followed, and then a soft penalty just before half time was converted, leaving us 3-1 down at the break.

And if we’re being honest, we only had ourselves to blame…

The half-time message was simple: let’s see what you’re made of. Play like we did in those opening 20 minutes and we still have every chance of winning the game.

Once again, the lads came flying out of the blocks, scoring within around two minutes of the restart. This time, though, we didn’t take our foot off the gas.

The response was absolutely fantastic. Every single player stepped up and did exactly what was asked of them, and we went on to score another 4 unanswered goals to turn the game around and come away with a convincing win. 💚🔥

There were some really good performances today, but the second half as a whole was outstanding - The team was solid from back to front, worked for each other and showed exactly what we know they’re capable of.

Another big lesson learned, though: we cannot switch off for a single second, never mind 20 minutes! Games can change so quickly, and today showed the lads that we have to stay focused from the first whistle to the last.

A great character-filled performance and a fantastic response after being 3-1 down.

Back to training this week for more hard work. 💪

Another Sunday, another pre-season friendly — and once again, we faced a strong Hessle side from a higher group. 💚⚽️

With a few key players missing, I wasn’t feeling overly confident going into the game, but the boys quickly put those worries to bed, coming flying out of the blocks and racing into a 2-0 lead with two quick goals.

We controlled the game for the opening 30 minutes, but Hessle stepped it up and suddenly found themselves level at 2-2 going into half-time.

Naturally, heads were a little down at the break, but the boys showed fantastic character to bounce straight back. We started the second half on the front foot and once again, controlled the majority of the game. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t find that all-important third goal, with the Hessle keeper pulling off some fantastic saves…

Plenty of positives to take, along with plenty of lessons learned — and that’s exactly what pre-season is all about. 💪

Once again, it was two of our new lads who picked up the game awards, further proof that our new signings have added huge quality to an already strong squad.

Liam showed real quality and found the top corner with a stunning finish from outside the box for his first Bilton goal.

There were also some really strong performances across the team today, with Zack, frazer and Sam putting in great shifts to name just a few. 👏

💚⚽️ PRE-SEASON IS WELL AND TRULY UNDERWAY! ⚽️💚

We’ve been a little quiet on here recently, but there’s been plenty going on behind the scenes as our pre-season gets into full swing!

🏆 SUNDAY – BRIDLINGTON TOWN

Sunday saw us make the trip to Bridlington Town for a charity game against a strong Hessle side.

On this occasion, the result was never the most important thing. The real aim was to raise as much money as possible for three amazing charities:

🧠 Yorkshire Brain Tumour
💙 Autism Awareness
🎗️ Bone Cancer Research

And what a day it was! We’re absolutely delighted to have raised over £1,000. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, organised and played a part in making the day such a success. It means so much to us, especially with one of these charities being very close to our hearts ❤️

As for the football… after an even start, we found ourselves 1-0 down after around 20 minutes. From there, we found another gear and really started to get going.

We went 3-1 up with just five minutes remaining, before Hessle pulled another one back to make it 3-2. We dug deep, held on and secured a fantastic 3-2 victory! 💪🔥

Our new faces really impressed too, with Will making some fantastic saves when called upon, Ethan putting in a solid 80 minute performance and Liam and Sam putting in great shifts - all four of our new signings have been fantastic additions to the team and we’re excited to see what they can bring this season! 👏

⚽️WEDNESDAY NIGHT – BARHAM⚽️

We took on a Barham side who, to be fair, were short on numbers and had just one substitute.

We started quickly from the first whistle and were in control from the off. We played some really good football, created plenty of chances and were cruising at 5-0 before, unfortunately, the game had to come to an early finish due to a number of injuries to the Barham players.
