⚽️ MATCHDAY 4 of the Ayrshire Youth Football League

The second midweek game of the season saw the boys at the Chilton Flooring Arena. This week we hosted Cumnock Juniors 2014s.

We came flying out the traps tonight, moving the ball well and dominating possession. The boys had clearly put Saturdays defeat behind them. The hard work and quick passes paid off, as we got ourselves up 1-0, a great ball over the top from Jamie gave Nathan just one defender to beat. Great finish.

Unfortunately, Cumnock got a man sent off with a hand ball on the goal line; a Bonnyton penalty and a second Goal for Nathan. Just as the first half was coming to a close, we got our third goal through Jamie, and what a great goal it was.

The second half started just as well as the first. Great passing, confidence and shots on goal. We extended our lead further from a nice through ball for Fionnlagh to meet and slot into the bottom left.

Our final goal of the game came from a penalty. Ollie was brought down in the box and then stepped up to make it 5-0 to Bonnyton.

Cumnock then got themselves a goal back from a corner, we just couldn't get the ball out from our feet to clear and they fired it home.

An outstanding performance from the boys tonight. They are delighted to be back to winning ways. All 3 points were thoroughly deserved.

The boys faced Whitletts Vics 2014s at Belmont Academy this morning. This is always a close and competitive fixture and today was no different.

The first half was very evenly matched, both teams working hard and moving the ball about well. There were chances at either side of park, however, Whitletts were the first to convert with a great run up the left hand side, ball squared across and a tidy finish. Bonnyton kept their heads up and spirits high. Eventually we got ourselves back on level terms with a good individual goal from Nathan, he ran down the right hand side, beat multiple defenders and then beat the goalkeeper.

The second half was much more physical, both teams desperate to get themselves in-front. Unfortunately for us, Whitletts beat us to the punch again and got themselves up 2-1. Things went from bad to worse for us when Whitletts found themselves through on goal again. Aaron was late with his challenge, resulting in our first ever red card 🙈. Even down to 10 men, we remained competitive, dominated possession in the late stages of the match and created chances.

A game of fine margins. This was a similar story to Tuesday night. Doing all the hard work and creating chances, just not taking them. If you don’t score goals, you don’t win games.
