🦅 Jarrow Hawks – Pre-Season Friendly Match Report
Jarrow Hawks vs South Tyneside FC Tornadoes
A fantastic pre-season friendly for the Hawks, with the lads showing great character, determination and some excellent football as the game went on.
It was a slow start for Jarrow, but the team really grew into the game, with the second and third games showing a huge improvement in both football and battling spirit. The lads started to play with more confidence, moving the ball quickly and working hard for each other.
It was great to see all five outfield players get on the scoresheet, with some excellent team goals coming from quick passing and good movement. The final 15 minutes were particularly impressive, with the team looking much more fluid in their positions. When one player went forward, the others switched on, covered and made sure we weren’t exposed.
There was plenty of effort and battling throughout, and the improvement in the team’s understanding and teamwork was really encouraging for pre-season.
Jake also deserves huge credit for his performance in goal. Some great saves and excellent kicking helped create opportunities and set up a couple of the goals. It’s fantastic to see the contribution coming from all areas of the team.
⭐ Player of the Week – Seb
Seb was outstanding and thoroughly deserved Player of the Week.
His overall team play was superb. He showed a great ability to turn defence into attack, played quick football and was strong on the ball. But what really stood out was his sheer determination and work rate — sprinting back to stop opponents getting shots away and putting his body on the line to block for the team.
A brilliant all-round performance and a great example of the attitude we’re looking for.
Overall, a really enjoyable game and a very positive step in pre-season. Plenty to be pleased with, especially the battling, quick football, team goals and the way the lads worked for each other.
A massive thank you to South Tyneside FC Tornadoes for hosting us. They were fantastic hosts and played some great football themselves. They were strong, battled well and made it a very evenly matched and competitive game throughout. Games like this are exactly what pre-season is about, and we really enjoyed it.
