I must start this report with a quick comment on the game, which was an outstanding performance from the Medda boys. Every single one of them played superb and the watching parents & guardians witnessed a wonderful game of football.
Kick Off!!
A small apology to start with, I was so engrossed in the game that I didn't record many notes for the 1st 19 mins, the game was that good and the Medda boys had good chances to take the lead. The best of the opening chances fell to Logan who hit a half-volley from a Dylan cross at the back post, but it was blocked on the line by a Buffs Defender.
A few mins later the Buffs took the lead with a clean strike from outside the box into the top corner, 1 nil to Buffs after 22 mins.
Medda had 1 sub available and the boys were playing superb, being physical (but fair) and not letting their heads go down following the disappointment of going a goal down.
A pulsating half-finished after a couple of half-chances for both teams.
2nd half – Kick off (1 – 0 to the Buffs)
The Medda boys took heart from their 1st half performance against a good Buffs side and were rewarded with a stunning goal 7 mins into the half. Pressure was being applied on the Buffs defence who half-cleared the ball was picked up by Leelan who passed to Holden and from 25 yards unleashed a left foot pile-driver that grazed the underside of the bar to level it for the Medda, 1-1!!!!
The game was end-to-end and Buffs retook the lead a few mins later, finally bundling the ball into the net from a corner, which was a serious weapon for the Buffs during the whole match with some excellent crosses.
Previously our boys have taken these setbacks hard but today was different. They pushed hard for that 2nd equaliser, and frustratingly we could not get any luck with bounces in the Buff’s penalty area as numerous corners didn't produce a goal, and Buffs scrambled the ball away.
However, the boys continued pressure paid off 26 mins into the 2nd half as John received a goal kick from Riley down the right wing and he setup Dylan who ran through and smashed it into the corner of the net, 2-2!!! Game on!
Medda had a chance 6 mins later with Dylan breaking through the backline but shot agonisingly wide of the post.
With 8 mins to go, another one of those dangerous Buffs corners produced the biggest controversy of the game with our boys clearing off the line, the Referee gave the goal having deemed the ball to have crossed the line and Buffs re-took the lead again. It was a sore one as it was very hard to tell and our boys certainly didn't agree with the decision. They dusted themselves down and went again for the equaliser.
Medda bombarded the Buffs backline and had a couple of chances late in the game, a shot from a corner was deflected over the bar and free kick outside the box went just over the bar. Luck was not on Medda’s side this day as the game finished 3 – 2 to Buffs.
I can safely say that I personally have not enjoyed a match more or been prouder of the boys. They were a credit to themselves and everyone who was lucky enough to watch a fantastic game all round.
Once again, thanks to all the parents / guardians for your ongoing support. No points were gained from this match, but a huge statement was made as we look to finish the season on a high.
Well done boys.
C’mon the Medda!

WK got off to a strong start, using the wind at their backs to attack Medda's backline. It took 8 mins for the deadline to be broken as WK scored from a strike outside the box.
WK we're getting lots of the ball in midfield and scored 2 quick goals to go 3 up after 15 mins.
Medda were finding it tough but started to get some chances in the last 3rd and Dylan stepped up in the 22nd min to strike a superb shot into the top corner from the just outside the box, Medda get on the scoresheet 3 - 1.
Frustratingly medda could not take advantage and it was WK who scored 2 more before Half Time. 5 - 1 to WK at half time.
2nd half
4 goals down, and the wind now at our backs, Medda went to win the 2nd half and try and claw back the 4 goal difference.
WK struck 1st sadly to extend their lead to 6 - 1, 7 mins into 2nd half.
The Medda boys were fighting more for 50-50's and penetrating up the left were rewarded with a penalty after Leelan was brought down in the box. Holden stepped up and kept his cool to calmly slot the spot kick home, 6- 2.
WK straight from Kick off penetrated the Medda defense and restored a 5 goal gap, nightmare for the boys.
Amazingly, Medda did the exact same to WK from Kick off as Dylan went on a solo dance through the WK defense and scored a brilliant solo goal 14 mins into the 2nd half.
The weather was deteriorating in the 2nd half and if not for some fantastic tackles from Colby in defense, WK could have scored more. Medda had a couple of chances too from corners but just couldnt find the finish to beat to WK keeper. Both teams played out the remainder of the game with no further goals scored.
Final score Medda 3 - 7 West Kilbride.
A much better performance from Medda boys in the 2nd half, but the goals lost in the 1st were decisive.
Thanks to all the parents and guardians who supported the boys today. We move onto next week.
C’mon the Medda!
🔴🔵Ayr Boswell 10 – 3 Irvine Meadow 🔴🔵

The game kicked off with Boswell taking a firm grip of the game with some piercing passes that split the Medda backline, quickly going 2 nil up within the 1st 10 mins.
Medda had a couple of half-chances but couldn’t find the strike to trouble the Boswell goalkeeper and sadly it got worse for the Medda boys.
Boswell were rampant and struck 3 more times to go 5 nil up after 20 mins!
It was looking like a nightmare for the boys, but then the midfield / frontline started to press the Boswell defenders and were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Evan stepped up and his shot was inches wide hitting the side netting.
2 mins later though the Medda boys got off the mark with Leelan picking up the ball in midfield and setting Dylan on his way, he got to the byline and smashed a shot over the keeper into the net.
It was a long way back but the boys took heart from getting on the scoresheet at last after 25 mins.
A few mins later Leelan broke through on goal but the post came to Boswell’s rescue, but a minute later Abdul got the ball and released Leelan through on goal and he chipped the keeper to make it 5 – 2 with 10 mins to go in the 1st half.
Boswell were rocked but had a great change to go further ahead at the end of the half but for a great save from Colby to deny their striker. Half-Time.
2nd half – Kick off (5 – 2 to the Boswell)
Sadly, it was a case of “Déjà vu” as our boys succumbed to another onslaught of Boswell attacks as we lost 4 goals in the opening 17 mins to go 9 – 2 down, a hammer blow following the improvement at the end of the 1st half.
The Boswell team were relentless and punished Medda for every mistake, but in amongst all that there were some excellent performances. I must mention Riley who came on at half time into the centre of defence and was a lion, bravely tackling and blocking shots, a huge inspiration to the boys showing no matter the scoreline, keep going and don't give up.
The game settled and both teams scored in the last quarter of the game, with Medda getting the final goal, a superb “pass and move” down the left of midfield allowed Abdul to play the killer pass for Dylan to score with a few mins left of the game. Final score 10 – 3 to Boswell.
Thanks to all the parents / carers for your ongoing support. The results may not be going our way of late, but they effort put into training will reap rewards in the games, I’m sure.
C’mon the Medda!

Only 3 points separated both teams, Medda on 15 and Buffs on 12 but they had played 2 games less. Mid-table is very close in the Graeme Souness league with only a couple of matches to go before the split, it's all to play for.
1st half: Kick off!
Both teams settled well in the early mins as the rain started to come down, adding to the difficulty and potential drama for the boys. The Buffs took the lead after 8 mins from a corner that landed dangerously into the 6-yard box and was lashed home from close range.
The Buffs team were gaining confidence and split the Medda defence with a penetrating run and from outside the box hit a shot that skidded past our keeper into the net, 2 nil Buffs after 15 mins.
The Medda boys reacted well to this setback and Alfie Kennedy setup Alfie Fulton to score Medda’s opener and get the boys back to within 1 only a couple of mins later.
Frustratingly for Medda it was the Buffs who scored again from some poor defending, and they stretched their lead back to 2 after 23 mins (3 – 1).
The game settled down again as both teams tried to play in tough conditions. 5 mins from half time another penetrating pass from Alfie Kennedy setup Dylan this time who cooly slotted the ball home, Medda back in it (3-2).
Unfortunately, the Medda midfield went to sleep shortly after and allowed the Buffs to pierce through the middle of the park and break through the defence to once again restore their 2 goal cushion just before half-time.
2nd half – Kick off (4 – 2 to the Buffs)
Medda got the 2nd half underway and were much more controlled in their passing and link up play.
A couple of early chances in the half saw both Dylan and Alfie Fulton get good opportunities but sadly their shots were blocked by a stubborn Buffs defence, which would come back to haunt us.
Midway through the half, Buffs had a corner and once again delivered a dangerous ball into the box that was pounced on by the Buffs who scored to make it 5 – 3.
Again, the Medda boys responded positively with good link-up play down the left wing but could not find that clinical finish to get back into the game with some more opportunities not taken.
A hammer blow was dealt as Medda pushed for goals and Buffs broke through in the last 10 mins to extend their lead to 6 – 2, showing just how painful those missed chances were.
A testament to the Medda lads is that they still pushed forward looking for goals and Abdul broke down the right wing, cut inside the box and was brought down (close to the line) ... penalty!!
Holden was given responsibility and smashed a precise shot into the bottom left corner, some consolation for the boys. Final score 6 – 3 to Buffs.
Thanks to all the family for your ongoing support especially watching the boys in the rain, it is greatly appreciated by coaching staff and the boys.
C’mon the Medda!
🔵🔴 Match Report 🔴🔵
Glenburn 3 – 3 Medda

We had a good squad with us for this encounter, but an unfortunate accident the week before had robbed us of our keeper Colby. Our newest squad member Riley pulled on the gloves for this match as we looked to catch up on our opponents who were 5 points ahead in the league.
1st half: Kick off!
The Glenburn team enjoyed some early pressure with a couple of corners and capitalised on the ball not being cleared to smash in the opener in the 1st 3 mins.
Glenburn were enjoying possession and control in the midfield allowing them to attack our defence almost at will. Some frantic but solid defence and goalkeeping kept the game at 1 nil, but around the 31st min Glenburn broke through the defence to go 2 up. Medda were screaming for offside but the referee allowed the goal and the boys regrouped.
Perhaps the decision ignited something in our boys as within a couple of mins, our winger Abdul chased a ball down the right wing that the defender thought he had covered. Abdul’s tenacity was rewarded as he blindsided the defender and passed into the box for Dylan to slot it home, the comeback was on.
Medda had Glenburn spooked and the midfield were snapping into challenges now looking for the equaliser. Alfie Fulton won the ball in midfield and released a through ball that Dylan ran onto and thundered in the equaliser! All square at 2 – 2 within a few mins of going 2 nil down, outstanding from the boys who closed out the half in the ascendancy.
2nd half – Kick off (2 – 2)
The boys had got themselves back into the game and knew they could go on and win. The 2nd half started with both sides getting chances and individual battles on the pitch were very evident. Sadly for Medda, it was Glenburn who struck 1st to re-gain the lead around 10 mins into the 2nd half as we were caught with a sucker punch counter-attack.
Opportunities came and went for both sides and our keeper Riley kept Medda in the game with some fine saves as we entered the last quarter of the game.
Glenburn kept pushing to extend their lead, but that left space at the back and down the wings. Finally, a counter-attack for Medda saw Dylan running through on the keeper following a pass from Alfie Kennedy and lobbed it over the on-rushing keeper and happily watched it bounce into the top corner of the goal for his hat-trick, 3 – 3 with 8 mins to go.
The last few mins of the game had so many events but the biggest was the penalty that never was. Dylan broke through again on the keeper and cut back on the defender who was chasing him back, he was clipped by the defender, but the referee saw no foul. This was a huge decision that resulted in frustration from the sidelines.
Some tense final minutes so the game end at 3 – 3. With so many chances for the game to have been won either not taken or being given, it just shows you that football (also known as the “Beautiful game”) can be a cruel.
The character shown by the Medda boys today was excellent, which was highlighted by the boys themselves congratulating their teammates on their individual performances. They are coming together as a group but more than that, a young band of brothers.
Thanks to all the family for your ongoing support, it is greatly appreciated by coaching staff but especially the boys.
C’mon the Medda!
