Irvine Meadow FC Development Squad

Another preseason friendly complete. 🔵⚪️⚽️

We went into this game with more than half of our squad made up of U18 players, and they certainly didn't let themselves down.

The first half was excellent. The boys worked incredibly hard, played some great football, and were rewarded with two well-worked goals to take a deserved 2–1 lead into the break.

A big shout out to our U18 player Liam, who opened the scoring with a fantastic finish. 👏 A brilliant moment for him, and a reward for the hard work he's been putting in. It's great to see our younger players stepping up and making such a positive impact.

Unfortunately, we couldn't find the same rhythm in the second half, and Forth deservedly turned the game around. It was another valuable learning experience for our younger players, who stepped up and gave everything.

There are plenty of positives to take from the first-half performance. It's important to keep perspective—this was a vastly inexperienced side at this level, yet they showed exactly what they're are capable of in spells. We're excited to watch these players continue to develop and become an important part of our development squad.

Now we move on to our final preseason friendly on Friday against another Premiership side, Ashfield. It will be our last opportunity to prepare before our conference campaign gets underway next week.

The boys faced a very strong Kilbirnie side in our second pre-season fixture and put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout the match. We were unfortunate not to find an equaliser late on after creating some good opportunities.

Another very valuable run-out against a Premiership side, providing the squad with another tough test as preparations continue for the season ahead.

A special mention to the six U18 players who were called up for the game. They all contributed extremely well and showed great character in a challenging match. 💪🏻

Our first friendly match in preseason we came up against a strong Bonnyton side.

A very competitive match and much needed fitness in the legs for the players available.
