⚽️GAFFERS REPORT⚽️

Toady we travelled to Methil to face inform Methilhill Strollers AFC

Both teams started slowly with strollers having a couple of opportunities to score. We
Looked like we were nervous and strollers defo picked up on that.

First half went on and we settled into the game and started to play football. We luckily never conceded despite strollers having a couple of chances to score either Aaron our keeper pulling off some great saves.

Ball received in the middle of the park, it was played wide and an ace 1-2 played between Spaven and Berrie resulted in Berrie whipping in an ace cross amd Robbie met it with an excellent instep volley.!!!!! 1-0 Divit.

We should have pushed on from there but we went passive and asked for trouble. This lead to strikers getting an equaliser. 1-1 and it was looking like it was going to be an open contest.

Half time approaching Robbie got his and our second goal and looked as if we were going into half time ahead bit, a lack in concentration and we went in at half time at 2-2…game still well within our reach to win.

Disappointingly, we started the second half very poorly. Conceding two sloppy goals and finding ourselves 4-2 with a mountain to climb and heads gone.!!!!
Something that I’ve been trying to change is mentality and it was evident that this needed to and does need to change for some.

Some of my lads can hold their heads up knowing that they couldn’t have gave anymore, others need to have a look in the mirror. Game finished with a hugely disappointing and frustrating 8-2 defeat.

The lads win together and loose together but the lads also need to learn by mistakes that were made.

Onto the next game which comes quickly in Tuesdays fixture….where we have the chance to right todays wrongs!!

Today the lads travel through to Methil for game number 2 of the league campaign as we face Methilhill Strollers AFC which is set to be a tough game with Methil starting the season well.

⚽️⚽️GAFFERS MATCH REPORT⚽️⚽️

First game of the new season and we welcomed Kettle United to DLC.

We started the game slower than i would have liked but, we had a large share of possession but not doing anything with it.

Both teams were having time on the ball and, against the run of play kettle scored. 0-1 to the visitors at half time.

After making some changes, we started the 2nd half much more sharper and aggressive, pushing for the equaliser. Not long till we got what we deserved with a well taking finish by big Damo. 3 defenders on him but manage to slot away the finish in the bottom corner. 1-1 and game on! And Damo is up and running for the season.

We kept pushing forward looking for the winner.

Not long to go when kettle were given a free kick about 20yards out….. up and over the wall and into the back of the net. Gutting way to loose a game in which we were the better team.

Game finished 2-1 to kettle and the lads and I left feeling disappointed. We take a lot of learnings from this game into our training this week and more.
