The boys are back on home soil this Saturday as Mostyn FC welcome CPD Rhos Aelwyd FC to the Mostyn Community Centre Pitch.

After a decent start to the season, we’re looking to keep the momentum going and put in another big performance in front of our home support. 💪

Mostyn let a two-goal lead slip late on against Deeside, eventually sharing the points.

Morgan Evans put Mostyn ahead with two brilliant finishes, including a stunning strike from a tight angle into the top corner, to give the visitors a deserved 2–0 half-time lead.

The second half saw Mostyn drop deeper as Deeside controlled possession. A back-post header gave the hosts hope before, in the 88th minute, a long-range effort took a bobble and found its way into the Mostyn net.

A frustrating finish for Mostyn, but plenty to take into training and put right next week. 🔴⚫️

Mostyn 5–3 Cei Connah | Cup Match Report

Mostyn secured their first competitive victory as a new club with an entertaining 5–3 cup win over Cei Connah at the Holywell 4G pitch.

Mostyn started brightly and created a couple of good opportunities inside the opening five minutes, but it was the home side who struck first. A mistake on the edge of the Mostyn penalty area was punished with a clean finish to give Cei Connah a 1–0 lead.

The visitors responded well, changing their approach and looking to exploit the space in behind. Luke Mantle managed to break through the Cei Connah defence, and after a clever leave from Morgan Evans, Jack Gilmore stepped up to finish and bring Mostyn level at 1–1.

Mostyn continued to grow into the game and soon completed the turnaround, finding the net again to move 2–1 ahead.

However, Cei Connah responded strongly. Mostyn failed to deal with the danger defensively and allowed the pressure to build, before the home side’s number 10 produced an excellent strike to make it 2–2.

With half-time approaching, Mostyn had one more response in them. A ball over the top released Morgan Evans, who made no mistake with the opportunity, restoring the visitors’ advantage and sending Mostyn into the break 3–2 ahead.

Half-time: Cei Connah 2–3 Mostyn

The message at half-time was clear: keep things tight, avoid overplaying in dangerous areas and continue looking for opportunities to get in behind the Cei Connah defence.

The second half began with the hosts putting Mostyn under sustained pressure and keeping the visitors pinned inside their own half. Despite seeing plenty of the ball, Cei Connah struggled to find a way through a stubborn and determined Mostyn defence.

Then, against the run of play, Mostyn struck again.

Another long ball over the top released Morgan Evans, who raced clear and finished to extend the advantage to 4–2.

Cei Connah refused to go away and continued playing some good football. Their pressure eventually paid off when Mostyn again lost possession around the edge of their own penalty area. The hosts took full advantage, firing home from distance to reduce the deficit to 4–3 and set up a tense finish.

Mostyn adjusted their shape and looked to protect the lead, but there was still time for one final blow.

Once again, the Cei Connah defence couldn’t deal with a ball in behind — and once again Morgan Evans was there to punish them. Evans raced through and calmly finished to complete his four-goal haul and seal a memorable 5–3 victory for Mostyn.

A fantastic result for the lads in just our second competitive game, and more importantly, our first victory as a new club.

Plenty to build on, plenty still to improve, but a brilliant moment for everyone involved with Mostyn.
