Today saw our over 60’s play their last set of games in the North and Mid Wales Walking Football League at Ruthin Town FC. Unfortunately, we had a mix set of results, winning 1 drawing 2 and losing 1, but still finished in the top 5. Results were 1-1 v Deeside, scorer Al (Back row, 1st right) 0-0 v Colwyn Bay. 0-1 v Airbus and 1-0 v St. Asaph, scorer Paul ( Front row, 1st right) The team played some nice football and the results may have been different for us, if it wasn’t for the post and bar in a couple of games. We now go on to the Cup knockout tournament on September 12th at the same venue. Onwards and upwards Hawarden Strollers Walking Football Club.

Hawarden Strollers Walking Football Club had 4 over 60’s players, Martin Robb, Alan Steele, Dean Tunstall and John Chapman, representing the club for the Cymru Dragons at the Masters World Cup in Briton Ferry South Wales, last weekend.
Whilst the results didn’t all go their way, the performances were outstanding, pushing their opponents to the limit in each game. Well done lads, the club is so proud of you. Onwards and upwards The Strollers.

On Sunday it was our over 60’s defence of the Neston Tournament Summer Cup. We started off really well, winning 2 and drawing 1 of our 4 games, unfortunately we lost our last game which meant we finished 2nd in in our group, meaning we played the top team of the other group in the semi final.

League Results,
V Southport 2-2. Scorer Al
V Nomads A 1-0. Scorer John
V Droylesden 2-0. Scorers Dean & John
V Widnes 1-3. Scorer Paul

Semi Final,
V Bolton 0-1 Penalty. Our keeper Martin, pulled of some amazing saves in this game and was definitely MOTM.

All in all, it was a gritty performance by the lads on a very hot day, and some good passing football played, but it just wasn’t to be this year, we will try again next year. We would also like to say a big thanks to the supporters that came along to cheer us on. Onwards and upwards Hawarden Strollers.

Scorers.
Al (back row 1st left)
John (front row 1st right)
Dean (front row 2nd right)
Paul (front row 2nd left)

Thanks to the continued generosity and support of all the players managers and committee at Hawarden Strollers Walking Football Club, our very own over 69’s player Dean Tunstall delivered 25.5kg of food donations to Sue Leake at the Flintshire Foodbank.

Dean has also secured £500 of matched “volunteer” funding from his employers at M&SBANK/HSBC. This imminent payment will help the Foodbank support local families during difficult times.

We thank everyone involved in this worthwhile cause that Hawarden Rangers Strollers have supported for the past two years.

And a massive thanks to Dean for his continued hard work in organising this.

Thanks also goes to Hawarden Rangers FC, Hawarden Community Council, Ewloe Sports & Social Club & The Hawarden Community - Aston, Ewloe, Hawarden & Mancot.

Last Sunday 19th July saw our over 60’s play their 2nd set of league games in the North and Mid Wales Walking Football League 2026. The lads had another great set of results, winning 3 and drawing 1, and were unfortunate, not to win that game too. This has set the lads up really nicely for the 2 remaining sets of games in, August and September. As you can see by the league position, we have a very good chance of qualifying for the finals day against the South Wales teams. Things are looking rosey for the over 60’s team, and hopefully, they can make more progress in 12 days time in the next round of fixtures. Well done lads, onwards and upwards The Strollers.

We have four players from our 60’s squad who will be representing the Cymru Dragons at the World Masters International Walking Football tournament in Briton Ferry, South Wales. The tournament runs from 13th to 16th of August.

Well done lads, throughly deserved for all the hard work you’ve put in through the year 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This is great news for our club, which keeps going from strength to strength.

Onwards and upwards Strollers 👍🏻💙

Apologies for this late post, but I’m on holiday in Australia. Last Saturday 27th June was our charity walking football game. The lads played a 3hr non stop game of football and it was also an introduction for any ex footballers who fancied taking the lovely game up again. There was a good turn out mad was enjoyed by all. Donations are still being taken towards Prostate Cancer research. Please donate as much as you can via the link on the page, for this great cause, thanks.
