From
“On Sunday I went to the first ever in Harrogate and I really want to share my thoughts with you because there has been a lot said online already.
Get your reading specs at the ready!
First and foremost, we had an absolutely amazing day: events like this are what you make of them, and we honestly didn't have a moment where we didn't have anything to do from our arrival just after 10am until 4pm when we left - and we didn't even see everything!
There was a fishing village with various casting lessons and challenges going on; gundog scurries; a clay line; loads of different stands from knives to fi****ms to optics to sweets to woodwork; cooking demos and competitions; ferreting displays; stands for BASC, the GWT, the Fieldsports Channel and Femme Country Magazine; plenty of food and drink vendors to choose from; and absolutely tonnes of stuff for kids to get involved in. For Christian and Simon to have put on such a great show in its first year is an absolutely fantastic achievement and I doff my cap to them.
Secondly, this show ISN'T THE NORTHERN SHOOTING SHOW! If you attended expecting a massive show with endless stands then you were always going to come away disappointed. We don't have a country sports show in the north anymore and if people want one for the future they need to support and encourage this one in its infancy.
I already know that next year is going to be bigger and better, and that it's going to grow year on year if people give it a chance. Listen to all the positive feedback from visitors and vendors alike about what a great weekend it was and don't let your opinion be swayed by the views of a small minority who would still probably have found something to moan about if it had been the massive event they were expecting.
As a proud northerner I will 100% be supporting this show going forward and I know that I will have an equally wonderful time there next year.
Finally, if you've made it this far through my soapbox rant, scroll to the last photo to see my absolute highlight of the day!”

A lot of people are asking us how the show went at the weekend and the only way we can explain it in simple terms is that it has been a massive success!
But the metric we use to measure that success is what makes the issues around how a show should be run so fascinating.
A good friend of ours said before the show even started that it was a success. Why? Because previous organisers had abandoned the North!
Then we considered how happy the exhibitors were - because they were all, without exception, there because they are committed to what we are trying to do.
Then we look at the venue, who are not even obliged to allow two ‘enthusiastic amateurs’ to have a show on their prestigious ground! They could not have been happier with the way it was run, how safe it was, and the positive atmosphere amongst the visitors all weekend.
Yeah, we’d have loved it if there were more vendors attending, but that will come. We’d have loved it if more people came, but that will come. And do you know what, for a new show we had enough of both to make it a great day out if country sports of all sorts is what you love.
The vast majority of people who came to the show get what we are trying to do, what we are up against, and what we are all capable of achieving, together, with a little time and support.
Future exhibitors are engaging with us already, having seen and heard from their peers how good it was. 2027 will be bigger and better!
Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to rescue a show and, as quite a few visitors commented at the weekend, “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow!”
Keep the faith!
